Saw this as I was going home. Carls Jr. Famous Star 60 cents on Tuesday, celebrating their 60th anniversary. Usually $1.29 , and I think there's no limit.

Hmm...I think they're $.99 regularlly in CA...so it's not too much of a difference. Still that's a good price for a decent sized burger.

Nice deal. I saw this too while going to frys in anaheim. Good price for a 1 dollar burger. its 40% off when you think about it so they get you back when you buy them cokes n frys.

A little OT here, but have you tried their "$6 burger"? That is the shizits IMHO. Don't do fast food too much, but had a 45 minute layover during lunch time and had to try it. It truly does compare to a $6 burger you can get at Chili's, TGI Fridays, etc.

Don't even have room for fries on that one...

Carls Jr. is such an awesome restaurant. We don't have 'em here in NY, but I went to Las Vegas a few weeks ago for vacation. On Tuesday, we had Carls Jr. in Nevada. On Wednesday, we had Carls Jr. in California. And oh yeah, in between those two, we took a trip to the Grand Canyon. :)

Um, I don't think so. The $6 burger tastes like a $4 burger...incidentally, it costs $4 too. The meat patty doesn't have the same juicy, off-the-grill taste, and the ketchup/mustard spread is reminiscent of the other ordinary fast-food offerings...its only similarity to a restaurant-style burger is its size...come to think of it, mine was really salty too.

Valsalva, you really need to try another (possibly at another location) before you form such an educated opinion. While it does only come in one style I believe it's the best fast food burger out there.

Look man, there's only so much you can do with ketchup/mustard as your flavoring (which I think ruins the burger)...in fact, come to think of it, I kinda like the in-and-out double double flavor better.

i believe it's also $1.29 here in s. cali. there IS a limit. ONLY 10 per person but i don't think that's gonna stop most of you from going in and out through the drive thru :p set up a BBQ and serve famous stars. $6 bux for 10 burgers. not too bad eh?

if you think carl's is great, what do you think of in-n-out. that is the best burger around and also only in california (with a few locations in las vegas and arizona). the only all-natural fries, really good shakes, and burgers with class. the only thing that is kind of funny is if you look under your drink cups and at the bottom of the burger wrappers, you will see bible references. the owners are jesus freaks =)

I just tried the $6 burger. I dunno if it was just the certain Carl's that I visited or if it's all of them, but that burger was a lil bit chilly. The cheese wasn't melted, the patty was warm not hot, and didn't really have much in the way of fixins (lettuce, onions, etc.). Seemed like a Famous Star except it had a huge patty.

I think other than this anniversary promo the famous star is back to full price of $1.79 or something. The promo burger is the 1/4 lb double cheese burger for $0.99.

For a REALLY good burger go to a decent butcher and buy some fresh ground "chuck", ideally buy the chuck and have it ground on the spot (fresher the better). Grab a chunk a little smaller than a tennis ball and form into patties by squeeshing between your hands. Use your thumb to keep it round and firm edged as you work on it. Heat up a nice big iron skillet over a tad below medium flame, and grind some fresh black pepper into the skillet, and drop in 3 or 4 patties. Do not touch them until the fat in the patty starts to melt at the top, then flip. Apply cheese if desired, and don't cook them too long (ie if you press down with a spatula and blood doesn't ooze out, its been too long). Use fresh buns and eat immediately.

Islands in SoCal has the best restaurant burgers, all fast food burgers are mostly tasteless or the taste is dominated by the sauce not the meat. In and out cheeseburger animal style isn't bad, but its still mostly sauce flavored.

In 'N Out is definately my favorite! The service is always great and the burgers are always hot and fresh. Carls Jr. used to be awesome but the quality and service has gone downhill over the years.
