The BookMarks still suck, there slow and hard to organize.

So I need:

1. better bookmarks
2. Super drag and drop
3. mouse gestures
4. Tool bars can't be dragged
5. Only one instance of firefox

Whooppeeee!!!!!

Did they finally make it as fast as IE at displaying pages ? Or fixed the memory leaks, and the fact that it usually ends up with 100% cpu usage after running for less than an hour with a few tabs open ? And saving tab sessions finally works ? I didn't think so.

Firefox isn't perfect but it's an excellent browser which is only going to get better. Can't really say that for IE as we're waiting for Longhorn for the next version...

I don't know which version that you were using, but at least with the 1.0PR 20041014 nightly, as well as the 1.0RC2 versions that I've been using, both are quite solid, no 100% CPU usage, no more severe memory leaks, and I use the Session Saver extension for saving/loading tab-sessions. They still didn't fix the GDI leak though, that was disappointing.

the cpu slowdown mostly occurs when I use java applets for more than 20 minutes, so I'm not sure if it's the java runtime environment that's causing it, or the way it interfaces with the browser. In any case, it worked better with IE (back in the day before microsoft decided to disable java). I find it astounding that today with my high end machine I get worse performance in java applet online games than I did 3 years ago with machines which were entry level even than (Athlon 1500+), not to mention that I cannot continue for more than an hour becuase of the cpu usage issue which happens within an hour, requiring a restart.

one word -> pathetic

I'm still using Firefox 0.8 for my default browser. Why? Because I can't find many of the extensions that I like for the newer versions, especially Tab Browser Extensions. Once all the extensions are ready, and once they've released a 1.02 and gotten the bugs worked out, then I'll probably be ready to upgrade.

I'm perfectly happy using netscape. Forgive my ignorance, but is there any reason for me to switch?

in a previous firefox thread here, someone said that japanese support was available
i was skeptical, because it wasn't viewing automatically on the machines i was testing
then i installed it on a machine that had japanese as main ie encoding. boom, japanese support
