i purchased several of the combos for builds for clients.

and here is the scoop on the motherboard.

they are great for stock, no real problems, except maybe the fact you have to use 2T with 1gb sticks of ram to get them to run stable.

if you are useing 512mb sticks of ram there is really no problems to speak of with this board, 1t works fine, same with 256mb sticks and 128mb sticks.

overclocking is good to excellent.

about 250htt is max if you are useing 1gb ram sticks, otherwise i have hAD MINE OVER 300HTT WITH NO PROBLEMS.

it also does not have firewire, but that no big loss for most people, and also no optical sound output, and odering the optional optical out header is a pain, you have to get it from jetway, as evga does not stock it.

How much "higher" do you think ANY AMD chip will go on air? And your 6800GT is still a very good card so why bother with a 7800GT? Skip the mobo/video card combo and order a X1900XT for $480 and be done with it😉

Still, I think the highest OC I've ever heard of for an AMD chip is ~3.1 GHz so I'd still skip buying a new mobo and watch for a good deal on a video card like the X1900XT for $480. I don't think this card will drop below $450 within the next 3 months (even after G70 or whatever nVidia's next GPU is codenamed these days).
 
That's fine and dandy a bout the 1900XT but the K8N NEO2 does not have PCI-E 🙂 I took the combo anyway and I'll get SLI when the 7800GTs drop below 200

Gotcha...I digress, but you're situation is a perfect example of why ATI and nVidia "should" release some higher end AGP cards. Nuff said, back to the topic🙂
 
ugh, avoid ZZF like the plague, PLEASE!

two days and it's still being processed despite my shipping address being on file with the CC AND I also called them over the phone twice to verify. I'm thinking it's the same lame trick they used on me when I wanted to buy the FX-55. First they said they have it in stock so I order. Then they spend 3 days "verifying" and finally they tell me it's not in stock but guess what they still charged me for the FX-55 to my CC! Unbelievable, stick with monarch or newegg. ZZF isn't even worth it anymore.

I agree with you in that ZZF does some "tricky" things. I ordered RAM and a CPU and since there site seems to omit key specs for a lot of products....I got higher latency RAM and a less than desirerable revison on the CPU. I only order from them here and there just to keep "competition" alive and well between the e-tailers😉 Although it seems Newegg has been slipping a bit as of late with service and gimicks.

So I call Zipzoomfly to cancel my order and they promptly open their phones at 8:50AM (business hours are 8:30 to 5). I speak to a guy who refuses to cancel my order saying that it's been packed but on the website it shows it's still processing, which can still be cancelled, and simply won't do anything for me. It gets better though, I call back hoping I can get in touch with a supervisor or manager but now he isn't picking up the phone! I quickly put my theory to the test by calling from my work phone, which has a different area code and number and voila, there he is!

What a crappy company.
 
regarding zzf:

i'm getting the same verification crap that others are getting. They even said they tried to call me and i haven't had a call from them today. i've had my phone with me even in class.

So, is this a stalling tactic because they don't have items in stock or what?
 
they wouldn't tell me but considering it has happened before I would say it's a fair bet. I cancelled and went with monarch, comes out to be the same, and they are MUCH better at service.
 
we totally hijacked this thread. Anyway, my order changed from processing to packed. so i can officially say, "yay". i'm gonna be in pure gaming bliss next week.
