According to everyone who bought one, there is no need for unlocking. They come factory unlocked with a default of 325/1100.

Just sold out

Since it's LE, there may not be any more for sale again.

I had my chance to buy one, but decided to wait. I kept questioning the qualityof them...throwing this card that's IDENTICAL in every way to a 6800 Ultra in an Ultra box and putting a sticker over the Ultra seemes a little odd to me...maybe I'm just paranoid!

As mentioned, these are probably the cards that "binned out" as not being 100% Ultra capable. That doesn't mean that they can't run at near-Ultra speeds, or with Ultra speced memory, or that they couldn't run @Ultra with the AGP voltage bumped up -- or they might literally be Ultras with the name changed.

If you remember way back when, Intel had to physically disable the math coprocessor on 486 SX cpu's -- actually adding labor cost beyond the DX chips. Once silicon fabrication plants get cranking, it's all about volume sales.

Ok, I got my card, installed it and ran into a couple problems. I posted a couple things in the video forum about it, but though i'd throw something up here too since I said I would. It came with the full 16 pipes and 6 vs so that's good. The bad is that at resolutions above 1280x1024 I get multicolored lines across the screen. It's possible that it's power related, since I've only got a 350watt supply, but it's a quality seasonic one.

I'm going to test it out some more with a second supply feeding the molex connectors tomorrow and see if the glitches go away. I'm also a bit concerned about the fan on this thing since it never seems to spin down, no matter if the core temp is 62 or 52. Right now I've got my case open with an extra fan blowing on it to test and its' still running at full force. Has anyone else noticed the fan not spinning down?

"Out of Stock" now; I suspect this deal is now dead. But, it was nice while it lasted. One of the possibilities is that this card, as has already been suggested in this thread, was an "ultra" that did not quite make the grade. This interpretation is supported by the Dual DVI, 256mb of ddr3 and dual power needs, attributes usually associated with an Ultra. Several posts on the web describe a true 6800 Limted Edition (LE) that was supposed to be a retail offering, but was subsequently pulled and offered only to OEM. The specs on the real 6800LE are 8 pipes, 128mb of DDR memory, stock clocking of between 300-320 with memory at 700. The cards offered, but now sold out, probably were downclocked to the 350/700 levels to allow the labelling of the cards as "LE" versions, in spite of their superior, Ultra-like hardware. If they all are full blooded Ultra versions that run with Ultra speed with no artifacts, then they are a hot deal. Unfortunately, now "out of stock".

I ordered one too...FedEx tracking says Monday delivery.

Guys...I'm a longtime NewEgg customer. If I'm not happy with a product, I call the 800 # for customer service OR email the complaint department krewe and let 'em know. I''ve ALWAYS worked out a deal which makes me happy without screwing NewEgg. They are good people if you treat them right
BTW... Call the 800# for all DOA products! Do NOT use the online RMA process if any product is DOA. I use the 800# for all RMA's because it's easier to get what I want.

I'm really hoping the Limited Edition is what the reviews say it is.

Don't forget Evga's Trade Up program. If you want to trade up for a better model within 90 days, they'll credit your original purchase price. I sense a PCI-e graphics card for Christmas gift to me!

Hence the "trade up"...trade this card in for an SLI model of either this, the GT, or the Ultra.

I bought one, I got it. Problem is it won't fit in my SFF <smacks head>
Since newegg won't take it back, and newegg is OOS, I'd be willing to sell the one I have for $350 shipped (I paid tax/shipping from newegg).
PM me.

Evga's trade up program is called Step Up.
You should register for the program sometime after you receive the card. The date on your invoice is the effective start date for the 90 days.

I got mine last night. Came at 325/1100. I bumped the core up to 409 and it ran fine. :)

These are equivalent to Ultras, but they are probably the worst of the batch that were made into Ultras, which didn't meet the expectations of the O/C range for a real Ultra, so were casted away labled as 6800 LE's. Still, I would have bought it if it weren't out of stock :( It'll prolly never come back again...

While I reallylike this step up program, I can't justify paying $150 for a guaranteed 325 - 400 core speed bump and that's the only difference.

It seems that these LE cards are wildly varying in their ability to OC. Most seem to do 350 by all accounts, but 400+ is few and far between...

This bios seems to be all the difference when ocing. With the stock bios, I hit 350-360 tops. The card worked great, but I hoped for more. I flashed the evga ultra bios, and (for now) am stable at 425. Each bios has a different setting for the core voltage. I wouldnt go straight for the ultra bios, know what you are doing and take it in steps.

Used rivatuner for oc and temp monitoring. Stock ultra speeds is fine by me, I dont need to oc more.
