worth a try if you are in the market, they aren't truely refurbs but simply returned items they cannot sell as new

Do NOT buy refurbished power supplies from NewEgg..

They do NOT test them before reselling them.

On my first and last batch, I ordered 3:

- 1 was DOA (blown fuze, ran around town, found correct 8A fuse, plugged it, drained power on all my house circuits (dimmed lights) and BLEW fuze without even plugged into a board. was a 350 watt)
- 1 was Near DOA. (Powered up, then if any load on the computer (we're talking a Duron 1000 on a 330 watt.. no, it wasn't the system) then it shut down instantly, restarted, then the power needed to reboot caused it to get into a loop of power off/power on every second.. Tried on a Duron 850... Did the same thing til it blew the fuse.
- 1 (300 watt) worked.

Cost: Lost original shipping AND return shipping AND 15% restocking fee to return 2 dead of the 3 supplies to them for the convience of "Testing" them for them.
Net loss: ~$30.
PO'd: Yes.

Search the threads here and you'll find tons more with similar problems.

lol...
This was probably the PSU I just got RMA'ed. It was making all sorts of high pitched noises and what not. I got it in sepetember and it worked great until last week. NewEgg was on the ball with the RMA though.

I considered the possibility of a Lemon.. But that possibility exists with new retail...

It cost nothing to ship... for me to try...

It was a good name brand power supply... sold as refurbished..

My credit card has protection on any returns regardless of retailers policy.. If returned I get credited full price...

Might cost me a few dollars to return... but it didn't cost me anything to try...

If it were new and I had to return it... it would cost me the same....

All and all I thought it worth a try... Time will tell...
