Good deal.. but adding in another 256MB of RAM, better optical drive, and possibly a better hard drive will kinda kill the deal. Great however if you need "ye basic computer".

How is this LCD for gaming, any ghosting? Or formulating a better question: what kind response times should I look for so that the monitor is good while playing fast-action games?

It's a good deal. +$20 for a 3.0GHz P4, +$20 for a 80GB HD.

Perfect for a budget system. After a while I don't think upgrading to the 1905 is a big deal. Stay with the FP193, save on the $99 upgrade and save on the video card upgrade. Don't play games any more, it's a thing of the past.

You can upgrade to the 19" Digital Flat Panel for only $99 more, which is a very hot deal, considering the 1905FP alone sells for ~$375.

I remember people posting a while back that you can send back components that you don't want from the machine to Dell that you don't want (i.e. I don't want any HDD, since I already have a 250GB one). Anyone know if this is still the case?

It almost comes out to the same deal after adding the RAM, CD Burner, etc to the previoius Dell 4700 deal with 19inch LCD. Not bad though.
