HOT!! Diablo 2 Expansion on sale NOW!

I'll give a week and hopefully one of the larger retail stores will run it on sale for $20 or so. $35 for a one act expansion pack is a total and complete ripoff, along the lines of the Half Life add-on Blue Shift.

$35 for hundreds if not thousands of hours of game play is a pretty good deal. Plus the $10 EB coupon and price-matching will probably make it $15 in the end.

Get it now at Best Buy b&m, then when they drop the price down to $29.99 in their weekly ads, take advantage of their 30 day price guarantee (refund the difference + 10%). That's my plan for D2 expansion and AO.

I can tell you right now, THE EXPANSION IS WORTH IT!

I have started playing act 5 in Hell mode, and it rawks. you get a bigger stash (2x as large) the first quest gives you a guy who will make any item socketed! (there's some awesome shields in the exp pack that are just begging for 3 perfect diamonds),

There's a TON of new items and weapons (they're not just for act 5 either, it adds a lot of items to all the first 4 acts).

I haven't played as an Assassin yet, but the druid character is really cool, he can shapeshift into a werewolf.

The movie cutscenes are awesome too.

However, my level 64 Necro is much weaker now than he used to be because of some of the nerfs they put it to make the new characters more appealing. My Iron Maiden spell is now kinda weak, it used to be a killing machine.

Bone Spirit still works great though.

nay, I finished it within 4 hours last night and although it's good quality but not too much has been added and a price tag of $39 for a short expansion is way too much.

D2 expansion did improve the sound quality though. You can hear monsters approaching and can distinguish the types by the sound they make. (ie i can distinguish skeletons from ghouls and the sound gets louder as they get closer). The sound of some items dropping are also changed...so far i only noticed a big difference with gems...have not found any rings/amulets yet so uncertain about that. Some weapons(javelins/throwing weapons) have magical properties too and new items have been added for each class.

If you dont like diablo 2, just dont reply to this thread.
Yes, price is little expensive but when I get boring after 1 month, I will sell
my account on eGay.
I did make $200 on original D2 after I enjoyed game.
It's kinds of hot deal.

Just my 2 cents.

Also, it's not "$40 for one more act!!", don't forget the masses of new items (runes, jewels, crafted items), the two new character classes, the balances to existing skills (poison isn't COMPLETELY useless for a necro now).

I see only lovers and haters of D2...I wonder if there are any folks who just play for fun now and then. Wouldn't THAT be odd!

How much better does the game look at 800x600? I'm tempted to buy it, even at $35, if the higher resolution makes a big difference along with the other new features people are talking about.😕

What's the deal with people who play on b.net that don't buy the expansion? Do they just not get to play with people that do have it, since they've done the weapons balancing and made the changes in the stash, etc.?

I love Diablo 2, it's one of my favorite games of the last 5 years, but I think it's wrong for them to basically put a gun to people's heads and say, "Either you buy this for $35 or you don't play online with people that have it anymore."

When they released Quake 3 Team Arena, they didn't push a wedge between the people who had it and the ones who didn't as far as playing on the stock or usermade levels together. That's what I see this expansion pack as doing, dividing b.net into 2 distinct groups, those with and those without.

Ahh hell, I'll end up buyng it tho. 😛

Anyone looking for this in a B&M, the cheapest I found was CompUSA for $35, but you can pm that @ Best Buy so that you get the 30 day price gaurantee.

GO grab one from Bestbuy or CompUSA, most places will have this on sale next week (first week of offical release), for $24-$29, then pricematch it.

Can't compare this to games like Q3 or UT as Bnet is a SINGLE server and there must be uniformity in that....your lucky they still allow all those without the expansion to play at all.

i wonder if I can get it at BB then take and and my recepit back to EB and get my money back.

Hopefully I can get it at BB for $25

Would EB take off the $10 I paid to reserve it to?

Yeah, I had planned to pm my Fry's purchase anyway. I'll wait and see what places have it on sale for in the next couple weeks. BTW, Fry's said I could come in and get the strategy guide, even though I bought it on 6/26. Not that I need it.

Just use a spare $10 promo GC (EVERYONE has a few of those around, right?!), and a $5 off 35 code and get it for $20 + $4 shipping 🙂. I play D2 for fun, but I want the new materials!

I bought it, it rocks, what else can I say, will be up til 3 or 4 in the morning playing it, chances are this will end my marriage, but I JUST CAN'T STOP PLAYING!

Oh, come on now, this *is* Blizzard we're talking about. They did the exact same thing for Starcraft (regular and expansion games). Did people honestly expect them to simply cut off whoever wouldn't upgrade? That's just plain silly; give 'em a little credit. Not that I'm saying you were bashing them, but I know other people who were "speculating" the last few months and spread misinformation.

Edit: Joyride, yes, if you pay $10 to reserve it, they take that $10 off when you go to purchase the copy you reserved.

If you want to try the new resolution, you DO NOT need to sheel out the $30 - $40 fr the expansion. A simple registry edit and you can use the new resolution right away.

Check the link below. You download one zip file. Unzip the patch_d2.mpq file into your D2 directory (rename the existing file first) and then run the registry file. That simple. I did it and it works great.
