My advice: if you've waited THIS long, hold out for the inevitable price breaks once the 2407 hits.

Does it really make sense to continue to wait? I jumped on the original $840 inital offering deal, and let me tell you this thing is amazing. This is a warm price, I'd jump again if I needed another.

I ordered one (not two) :( for $893 (tax included). Last check with Dell was "Shipped" status. How much a 2005fpw used would be worth? I may put the 2005fpw for sale soon.

Yes it does. What is one more month when you WILL save yourself at least $100... Dude the monitor has been out for over a year, so no point in giving in now when the price is guaranteed to get lower and quickly.

So is the 2407 supposed to ship in a month? And also, what would a used 2005fpw get?

Wrong. I am not assuming that, because I know that it definitely WILL be discontinued.

I mean, buy what you want, but I'll be the one laughing at the end of Dell's fiscal quarter with an extra 100-200 dollars in my pocket. How do you think they are going to get rid of all their current stock of 2405s??

HDCP compliance.

That, and there probably will be good deals on the 2405's when the 2407 comes out. I'm just not sure it'll be from Dell, remember that DELL doesn't keep large quantities in stock though (or is that with only computers).

Anyway, you'll still have the push from all of those people upgrading and you can snatch up their old monitors.

Frankly, I'm waiting for a 23-24" version of the Gateway lcd. THe HP stuff is nice, but well, no Faroudja and no HDCP makes me want a 23" gateway even more. That, and the stand to the gateway is nice too.

Let's be honest here: When the 2005FPW gets down to $750, a LOT of people will write, "When this baby gets down to $650, I'll bite." And so on. And so on.

A "good price" is a state of mind combined with a state of wallet.

Well put. So I paid $840 almost a year ago .... and you save what $100? $150 at the MOST? Again, we're making assumptions they will clear these out for ~$700-$750. So I paid an extra $150 to enjoy it for an extra year sooner .....

I guess I fail to see how that's a good deal? To me HDCP is not really much of a concern, considering I have a Sammy 61' in the living that will "git ur dun".

This is a warm deal .... don't hesitate if you thinking about it. :)

I bought my two 2405s for $803 the week after they came out last year, so I know *I* can personally wait till they get to $750 until buying more for my business.

Just a heads up for those who don't notice: Dell always releases ridiculous coupons (e.g. 35% off, etc) towards the end of their fiscal quarters, probably to boost their sales numbers. I've noticed for the past 2 years the best coupons are at the end of the 1st fiscal quarter--I don't think it'll be any different this year.
