I check out the Hot Deals several times a day. So I'm wandering for those O.T. people that check out the Hot Deals forum, how much have you saved from deals you found in that section.

Just since this past Thanksgiving I have saved around $500. :)

Which is rare since things seldom magically go on sale when you need them. If you just want something and can troll the HD forums for a few months waiting, then it's a great resource. A perfect example of this is the constant computer upgrader who can just pick up newer and better parts whenever he sees them pop up and then sell the old part he bought from a previous Hot Deal and end up spending very little out of pocket.

But, by far, most of us buy stuff we don't really need and had no inclination to buy, just because it's a good deal. We then sit on it for a few weeks and decide if we want to keep it, give it as a gift, or resell it.

I've saved a lot of money, but I also find myself buying a lot of stuff that I didn't really need (or wasn't in the market to buy) just because it's a hot deal. So I would say the money I have saved has been a substantial amount, I've probably blown that on other stuff I didn't really need to buy.
