I was at one of the local Wal-Mart Supercenters we have here in Omaha and saw some fair prices on cameras in their clearance section. I wanted to look at one, but the salesperson said they had lost the key to the lock and couldn't open it. I asked how they were going to sell them if they couldn't open the case...she didn't know. I suggested breaking the lock, but she wanted to wait until the department manager came in the next day. I left my name & phone and asked to have the manager the following day. Anyway, he called and said not only had they found the key, but every camera in that case would be 1/2 the price it was the day before. So even though it's the furthest Supercenter from me (about 45 minutes), I jumped in my Jeep & made the drive. Here's what I got:
- Sony DSC-P20 digital camera, $66.00
- Kodak C750 APS, $40.50
- Kodak C700 APS, $40.50
- Canon LT260 APS, $31.00
I went to the other Supercenters we have in the area hoping to pricematch (esp. the Sony digital), but even though some had the same cameras in their clearance section, I was told Wal-Mart does not pricematch their own stores. The Sony I saw at other Supercenters was priced at $160. I plan to return every once in awhile to see if prices drop again, but maybe I just happened to be at the right place at the right time. I know this is definitely a YMMV deal, but maybe someone could stumble into the same deal I got (after all, Wal-Marts are EVERYWHERE!!).
