I read on another forum that the brand new spiderman game is 19.99 this week at Best Buy. Since I don't have one by my house I can't confirm this. Can someone confirm it.

This game looks sweet! Much better than the older other one. For screenies www.ugo.com has some nice pc and x-box pics.

Yes, you can pre-order it at best buy (online too) for $19.99.

If this game is as good as you say, it's a nice find!

Check out ebgames.com for the Gamespot reviews of this game. They're early reviews, but it looks pretty good...

The sales paper does state that it is 19.99. Plus, there is a coupon in the May PC Gamer for 20% at BB B&M on any pc game 19.99 and up.

That copy of spider-man for the pc they're giving away is the original one that they sold a year or so ago, a port of the original PS game. Still a very good game, but not the one being discussed here.

That's not Spiderman: The Movie....two different things, but still a nice deal for being free. But, I dont think it's worth it..probably nothing but advertisements on the free CD. Anywho, the game looks sweet, played it for the XBox, and it rocks. Hopefully, the PC version will be just as good.

<< Anyone know why the PC version is so much cheaper? >>

Probably because its so much easier to pirate a game on pc than on console. By keeping the pc price low then it makes many people give in and say "Its cheap, I'll just buy it" instead of hunting it down online.

Well, that and also the fact that console folks are suckers that are willing to pay those high prices for new games...

It's only one game, have you checked out the other new releases. I wished they were selling for $20 instead of $30-40.

I got it. Thanks. Cool game. The only gripe with it is the horrid camera angles. The city scenes are REALLY good, though.

Yeah, I was tempted to get this game, but after playing the last one and giving up because of those camera angles, I've decided not to get this one--especially after reading reviews where they said the camera angles were its main drawback. Too bad. Could have been great!

Bought the Spiderman: The Movie game from BB for $19.99 Thursday night, took it home and installed it, played it for a few hours trying to get used to the horrible camera views and awkward game play, and finally took the CD out of the tray and threw it across the room. I will NOT be wasting any more time with this sh@tty game. DO NOT fool yourself into thinking that this game works like Max Payne or some other really good third-person type games!!

I even went through the training sessions to see if I was just doing something wrong, but no, it's just really that bad. The problem is that you can't keep the camera in the right position behind you no matter what setting you have the camera on. You get into a fight with four or five guys and you swing around to hit the one behind you but the camera stays put so you can't actually see the guy you're swinging at until he's right on you and hitting you.

The reason this works so badly is because you essentially don't use the mouse for movement. It isn't like all the FPS games where you use the mouse for spinning side to side and looking up and down. All the motion is with the WASD keys and you have your other hand on the keypad to control hitting, kicking, web swinging, and all the other nifty web features you use for movement or in combat. So this means that you need a third hand to stay on the mouse, which only control the camera angle. You can manually move the camera POV to one that will help you see what you're looking at, but imagine doing that in the midst of battle and you'll see why this sucks.

But it isn't just annoying in battle, it also seems to never be able to focus on what you need to see even when you're just running through the map. You run down the hall and make a 90-degree right turn to another hall but the camera stays in the same position so now you are looking at your right side and can't see what's in front of you anymore. How stupid is that?? The game has a setting that is supposed to automatically get the camera tracking correctly, but it does not work. Go read the Game Spot review and they even hated this aspect, although they mysteriously gave the game a fairly high score anyway.

Oh, okay, one more thing. Here's one more reason I would NOT continue to waste time with this game even if the camera angle thing worked correctly -- you can't save your game until the end of a mission. This sucks as bad as the SWAT series in that way. I don't know about you, but when I play a game I save ALL THE FRIGGIN' TIME. I just got done with Jedi II and MOH:AA and made it through those by hitting save about every minute or so. I'm a long-time action game player and nowadays I simply refuse to even mess with games that don't let me save. There's nothing that makes me homicidal like making it to the end of a complicated level, dying while fighting the very last boss character at the end, and then having to redo 30 minutes of game play just to take another shot at the boss. That is SUPREMELY STUPID!!

Okay, I'm done now.

How is this game (Spiderman the movie) similar to the spiderman games from the dreamcast (the good ones)?

Let no one mistake that this is a console type game- gameplay required, console-style saves.

Hey Acme, did you try to play with a game pad? Usually console ports are better with gamepads than with keyboard controls, since they were never designed for a keyboard in the first place. The only reason I ask is because I played for a couple of minutes on both a ps2 and a gamecube and the camera didn't seem that bad and the game definitely seemed worth the ~$20.

Acme, how far did you get in the game? And ya, DO NOT play this game with a keyboard! It was pretty much made for a game pad and the Sidewinder gamepad works GREAT! Ya at first you DEFINITELY have to get used to the controls and the camera angles. When you are in a fight, you NEED to hit your camera lock button to lock onto your target. If you don't, you'll most likely get your ass kicked. The camera lock button is KEY to the game! Sometimes I need to adjust the camera angle with my mouse but most of the time it is fine. As far as the graphics, DAMN, when you are swinging in the city battling the flying bots, it is absolutely gorgeous! And I only have a GF2 Pro, however I can see where a GF3 and even a GF4 would REALLY help. :(

I give this game a thumbs up!
