Actually, your link goes to the 36" XBR. This hot deal is for the 36" WEGA which is showing up with a rating of 4.52/5.0.

I called my local Fry's in Dallas, and they said you can come in to get a rain check. Then when it comes in, purchase it at this $999 price. I confirmed the price is $999 here.

Oops, forgot the new link...

your link is to a model that came out a couple years ago and hasnt been available for over a year ...

Here is the link to the model they are talking about

KV36FS12

it got good ratings

for those that asked, this version does not have PIP (next version up does FS16, which usually costs $100 more)

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the Fry's ad that shows this TV on sale for $999?

I'm in the Bay Area if that helps.

Thanks!

There are no ads out there that list the price for this tv. The only ads out there only say "our lowest price ever!" I should know, I went and bought one when the ad first came out on Friday January 26. Got it just before the Super Bowl. It made me feel good to see this week Best Buy ads selling the exact Sony for $1499! ;-) But certainly not as good as the Dude that got the 200% price difference from The Good Guys!

After reading everyone's response, it seems unlikely that GoodGuys will honor their 200% price difference policy. For one, the ad doesn't state the price, and two, I used 0% financing and the fine print says the policy doesn't apply towards specially financed items (something I discovered after the purchase).

So even though the store manager approved the 200% difference, I think the corporate office will reject it. I don't want to wait around 8-10 weeks and find out that they won't honor it meaning I'm stuck with a TV at full price. At least Fry's has it on sale till tomorrow.

Well, talked to the manager at GoodGuys. This should go through. I'll know for sure by Thursday or Friday. I guess it just depends on how anal the store manager is.

Anyway, if you want to try your hand at pricematching, I scanned a pic of the $999 Fry's invoice here. This offer is good at all Bay Area Fry's though Tuesday 2/6. Here are the phone numbers to aid in verification:

San Jose 408 487 1000
Campbell 408 364 3700
Palo Alto 408 496 6000
Fremont 510 252 5300
Sunnyvale 408 617 1300

Good luck!

Went to the Fry's in Dallas, out of stock. This offer is not a "while supplies last" sale, however, so I was able to get a raincheck and can return to buy it later when they are in stock. They print out a raincheck quote to take with you.

With this quote, I can probably go to other B&M stores to pricematch. Might be able to pricematch with 800.com too ($1499 there). Can I go anywhere to get a better deal similar to Good Guys? There are no Good Guys stores in my area. Best Buy will only match the price, right?

Today's the last day to get a raincheck!

Their 32" version was for the same price.

rhong,

May want to try Circuit City, I think they offer 110% of the difference, so maybe you can get a little better deal that way.

Thank you katipunan!!!

I went to GG's and priced matched Fry's with your invoice. The salesman
had to confirm the price with his mgr. He disappeared for about 15 min
and returned with the mgr. He told me that they verified the price and
it was approved. The mgr put in his password and I got it for $999 less
10% of the difference bringing it down to $949.99.
I decided to get the 3 yr warranty for $140. (I don't trust Sony's track
record for repairs) Total with tax for $1,165.99.

Okay, I put the invoice back up here. However, I don't know how much good it will do since the sale expired on 2/6.

It is Wega, not vega...pronounced Vega though, maybe that was what you were referring to?

I bought the 36FV16 for 1499 at costco B&M also. it has PIP and IMO it looks better because the speakers are on the side, versus the speakers that are located on the bottom.

Anyone have the Frys Friday ad containing the Sony Wega 36"? Good Guys is asking me to present an ad to do the price match and I am ready to pay for the ad if anyone has it. Thanks.

Getting a lil OT here, but does anyone know about any decent TV deal out there? I'm desperately looking for one to buy.

I already bought the TV but they want to see the ad to refund the difference. BTW Guys, if you are faced in the situation where you need an ad after the fact and you are in the Bay Area, go to San Jose Mercury News office on Ridder Park Dr (San Jose) and purchase a copy. They keep old newspapers for upto 60 days. I just figured it out myself and thought there might be others facing this problem. :)
