It should be at all Fry's. I went to the Palo Alto store, and it was still tagged at $1499, but when they looked it up in the computer, it was $999.00. Riskhk, maybe the people you called didn't actually look it up?

awww sheet...just called like all the fry's in la and good guys store

here my situation i think others have the same problem

all of la said that the deal only lasted for 1 day(friday) they sell it now fo r 1499

san diego is still honoring the price 999

i can get a price match with san diego for the price 999

good guys will only give double the difference if it is a in store ad... only price match if it is not in the store add but in the store...

so i now need a add in the la area...

sigh how did everyone else appraoch it?

Weird, it looks like the price is good till Tuesday 2/6 here in the Bay Area. Fry's had it in the Friday ad up here, but it said "ON SALE NOW" and not $999.

It seemed the printed quote was enough for the GoodGuys to honor the price guarantee.

TV's from Costco,............ be sure to compare them feature to feature w/those available from other sources, don't know about the WEGA but the 32" Panasonic I purchased from them turned out to not really be the best deal............they are often (odd versions) stripped of some features while possessing others..........?
For instance the 32" I bought has large stereo internal speakers and PIP, but oddly has no base or trebble (tone control) for the internal speakers........not a big deal if you are going to use some type of home theatre but I got this TV for just a stand alone set for a small living room, .................. Go Figure???

argh I congradulate anyone if they got this deal

so difficult to get

in order to get the deal in la
you need

1. a newspaper add stateing the price of the sony wega.
( according the good guys person i talked to they need an ad and not an invoice cause they have to send it to coporate)

2. there are no place in la that are offereing the tv for 999 all are offering for 1499
only way to get the discount is call to get a pm with san diego which i did
(bastard frys supervisor wont give me an invoice though...according to him i can only get teh invoice if i pay for the product.. and i have to take the tv at that point ...i cannot just leave it there)

sigh...hopefully i can find a good deal on a cheaper tv

oh yeah btw the tv at good guys is now 1299...not 1499 anymore

That is pretty cheap too bad I don't have Fry's Electronics, hope they'll open one here soon. I saw the Sony WEGA 36" for 1,599 I think it was from best buy, that's 600 dollars different wow.

Gift Card for the double the price difference at GoodGUys? Has anyone ever gotten one of those? How does that work, do you have to spend all that money at Goodguys or something? Or can you liek get cash back?

TO CLUMSUM:

Many VCRs use the same internal chip to control their functions,
since ths is the cheapest way to build 'em.
What they do to make prices differ is to leave OUT the IR codes & thus functions on the remote control!

I had a Panasonic HiFi VCR a few years ago where I pushed an odd combination
of buttons and ... Hey this machine isn't supposed to be *ABLE* to do THAT !?!!

What I'm saying is that your Panasonic TV may have the Bass/Treble functions,
-- and some others -- but IR codes left out of remote.
See if you can find someone with "higher-end" version of same TV
and borrow their remote.

If yours now has new functions either buy new remote from MFG,
or get yourself a learning remote!:)

so do i buy the tv first at good guys and then get the 2x's the difference(which means i'm paying ~1,500 for the tv, or do i get the ad from fry's and then go to good guys??

tkim - Yes, you must purchase the TV first at $1499. If you tell them the Fry's price when you purchase the set, then the GoodGuys will only match the $999 price. After you purchase it, you can come back to GoodGuys and ask for double the difference.

the thing is in order to get a double the difference back you have to get a advertisement with the price stated on it...there are no frys advertisement with the price of the tv

how did you guys circumvent that

Check Ward's for the 36" Wega stand. In my area, (Midwest), they seem to have a surplus,
and are blowing them out for under a c note.
Good Luck

C note is correct, this is the suggestion for the stand not the Wega itself.

CADman: So Ward's have the 36" sony stnad for cheap? I think all the places I've seen so far is $199. I'm trying to see if I can find a place that has it for cheaper. I know the Wards's near my house is going out of business , maybe they still have some , maybe I can find a good price on them. So how much were they at ward's over there?
