I never trust Pac Digital to get rebate. You will NEVER get it. Same is true for Hi-Val(bankrupt).

Its a yamaha? Don't they make pretty good clone cd compatible drives?

If so then this deal is really hot, I don't see why nobody wants to post?

Don't forget the 8x4x32 Acer after a rebate for $79, which is a little better, because 8x rated rw's are kinda expensive (at least here) at BestBuy. Shaft, you might want to change the post topic to show that it's at Circut City, and not bestbuy

Go to clone cd's site. My Yamaha 4/4/16 scsi doesn't support raw reading. I seem to remember most, if not all Yamaha's lack raw reading which clone cd requires. But, cdrwin supports raw reading anyway. I have never found a back-up disc yet I couldn't burn.

When my burner came out a couple of years ago it cost me 300.00 but I wouldn't get anthing else. Yamaha is the best in the business.

Don't rule out the TDK VeloCDs. Practically the same as a Plextor, 32x/12x/10x, burn-proof... etc.

To correct the misconception about the Yamaha, it definitely READ RAW, it doesn't WRITE RAW. Big difference there. I have the Yamaha 6416S, excellent for reading RAW, lacking the writing skills.
For the money, I'd say get out early and get the Acer or spend and extra few on the Iomega. My friend has an old Acer that has burnt thousands (no kidding) of discs and my Iomega only failed me when I brain farted....like opening Word while burning. The new Iomega drive has Burn-Proof, which should stop stuff like that. I wouldn't get the IDE 8824 myself for that price. Better deals are definitely out there this weekend!

Personally, I just purchased the TDK 121032 (Plextor).....and I cannot say enough good things about it! Full CD's in under 7 minutes.....

Does the TDK veloCD 12/10/32 read sub-channel data? I have read reviews that say it doesn't. Is there any way to test a burner to see if it reads sub-chanel data?

Thanks

hahahahah! Are you serioud that IDE burners would have a buffer underrun if u opened word? SCSI all the way, but this new burnproof seems to be pretty good. Still my next burner will be a 16X plextor SCSI (8X plextor currently)
