the lowest listed price on pricewatch is 215, so it's definitely not a screw-up at 258

I usually don't criticize people for human mistakes... but I might criticize people for buying Intel Processors...

Kidding aside, to each his own and I hope you like it,

How much did you pay w/ shipping and stuff? It seems like you over payed some...cheapest on pricewatch, NEW IN BOX, retail, is like $220.

the store you bought it from is at $275 or so and then there's shipping.

Shipping was less than 8 bucks. They may be a little higher, but they have treated me good in the past.:)

Just wondering why someone would spend 274.95 for a P4 1.8. The AMD 1.4 GHz is as fast as the P4 1.8 and it's 101 for the 266 FSB and 111 for the 200 FSB model listed on Pricewatch. A decent HSF is 20 more. The Intel is still more than twice the price. Cpuscorecard gives P4 1.8 a rating of 4275 and the 1.4 Athlon is 4253. If in doubt, here's a link to cpuscorecard. Cpu scorecard They list speed ratings between all cpus ever manufactured. It's a good basline for comparing cpu speed. Takes awhile to load, so be patient.

If someone is intent on this cpu I found a retail P4 1.8 GHz at Computer Expo in TX on pricewatch. Price is 240 plus 8 shipping. It says you must phone in the order and mention Pricewatch to get it for 240.
TCWO has this same practice. Their Athlons are always 6-8 cheaper if you call and mention Pricewatch when compared to their website .

<< better off with AMD >>

I like AMD too, but I'm getting increasingly uncomfortable with the 75 watts plus cpu that can fry both itself and the mb should the heatsink's fan ever fail or if the heatsink loses contact with the cpu due to the increasing weight of the heatsink.

Unless AMD can start pumping out something cooler, then my next cpu will again be an Intel. I was reading the article on how both the 1ghz PIII and P4's didn't die once the heatsink was removed. The P4 continued to operate even after the heatsink was removed! All variations of the Athlon processor died within seconds when the heatsink was removed.

no doubt about this blatant commercial advertising. Here's another example if you look for his reply.

Hate to bump this BS thread once again, but hope the mods give this chump a vacation from these forums for a short while.

Lock & Ban!!! Gotta hate the dealers pushing their overpriced crud as a 'deal'. I used to live in Iowa and I am ashamed that they are there doing that.

That's an understatement! Been waiting for 5 minutes for one comparison to come up.

Cool site, though!

I've actually ordered from Iowacomputing in the past....

and they suck!! The order took forever to get to me and the prices were greatly overpriced. Ban this snake oil merchant and let this stand as a lesson to those who would dare try to peddle their warez in this holiest of holy places :)

I just feel bad for anyone who jumped on this and didn't realize...
