I just got back from Wal-Mart with the MX-1200. It is $199.99, but there is a little weird thing going on.
First there are 2 versions of the camera. The plain one and a kit. The plain one was $306.99, then I asked them to scan the boxed-kit and it was $199.99!!!

The kit includes the everything the plain one has PLUS rechargable batteries and a recharger AND a form for a USB reader!!!
This is definetely a HOT DEAL!!!

Hate to burst your bubble, but this is definitely NOT a hot deal. $199.00 is the everday price for this camera. The "kit" that you're talking about is nothing more than a two-dollar AA battery charger. The USB reader has to be mailed in for and that offer expired last month.

I brought this info to Staples store at Kearny Mesa at San Diego CA and they offer an HP C200 camera for the same price.

The Fuji has slightly higher resolutions.

On the subject of the USB reader, don't you just love Photoshop? :)

Went to Walmart (Mt. View, CA) and they don't even carry the MX1200 or any other camera from Fuji. So at least here, there is no hot deal.

Doesn't mercata sell this too? That would be about the same price then after mercata dollars, with free shipping to boot. Not a bad price though.

This camera kicks butt. I got one in February for $250 w/o card reader or batteries, so it seems like a good deal (no telling tho since prices drop so fast - I haven't kept up since I got it!). The macro focus switch is the best thing since sliced bread (what was the best thing before sliced bread?!). I can take perfect 5" closeups of motherboards and other junk ;) I did get a 32mb Smartmedia from Buy.com, definately worth it.

Rupthekid: The difference between Mercata and Walmart:

For Mercata: 3 days until powerbuys end + 2 day for processing + 3 days for shipping. Return is a hassel.

Walmart: I can get it in 20 mins. The return policy at walmart is great!

Get Nikon 800 from mercata for $400, and get $75 rebate from nikon, final cost is $325.

You'll be more happy with Nikon 800 than any below $300 dc.

I went to Walmart yesterday . . . I swear, the line for returns was longer than all the checkout lines combined. . .

I ust ordered one of these from Mercata for $198. Can someone who already got one answer a few questions for me.

Does it come with an AC Adapter? Also, does it come with some sort of case for the camera?

No it doesn't come with an adapter - the batteries used are 4 AAs, so you'll want to get some NI-MH (nickel metal hydride) rechargeable batteries and a charger. NI-MH lasts longer than NI-CD and don't have that awful memory effect.

It doesn't come with a case either. I bought this case (http://www.us.buy.com/comp/product.asp?sku=10221192) at Buy.com for $5 - it's a nice soft-case that fits the camera perfectly and allows the carry string to hang out. You might want to wait for a free shipping weekend if you watch for that kind of thing - otherwise it's $4.99 if you just order the case. It would be nice if the case had a pocket for more batteries, but for the price I won't complain!

I bought one off Mercata, too, last night. Where's a good, cheap place to get the Ni-MH batteries and charger? Onvia has a Kodak one for $20, is that reasonable?

If you had gotten it at Walmart, it would have came with it. Also, with the help of photoshop, a USB reader also comes with it.

BestBuy has Energizer NI-MH 4-pks for $12.99 and the charger is [I think] $20 with 2 batteries. I've had them awhile and have been very pleased with their performance.
