I just checked my local DFW Fry's sales ad and they have the price for this Polaroid 48x16x48x CD-RW as $30 with no rebates. As you can see on Outpost.com its $55. Is this one of the famous Lite-Ons? It has "Burnmax Technology"

Yeah.. it's in So CAL too.. but I'm just worred it might be a BTC drive which really stink. But for $30.. it's almost the cost of a regular CD-ROM drive..

haha. good backup to have

Lite-On uses "SmartBurn", not Burnmax. I've read bad things about Polaroid drives.

I remember BBY has a Norcent 52x CD-RW $20 AR, maybe $70 - $50 rebate, don't know which one is better.

I bought a 40x polaroid from Officemax and I must say that it is terrible. Slow burn speeds 4:30+ w/ Fuji (TY) media and the Audio Extractions times are brutal.

It is a BTC, and it is suck.

I had the 32x Polaroid. BTC wouldn't support it (OEM), and Polaroid was clueless. Thing would hang up after being powered on for 10min. :( Gave it to a desperate friend.
