Found this buried on another post... thought it deserved its own title.

Stopped by my local OD today and the sales clerk found the last one for me in the back (AND DIDN'T TAKE IT!), and actually brought it out for me.

It's the Linksys 10/100 fast ethernet Network kit in a box. Model # FENSKO5. Comes with a (5) port hub, (2) nics, cables, and nice software bundle (supposedly the software is valued at over $200).

I just took the copy of the OD web page showing the price at $29, that I printed off the net. (Their internet site show's "out of stock").

You can find the web page located on another post here at Anand. I will try to locate the post and repaste the link to the OD web page showing the kit for $29.

Good luck. I have a feeling there are plenty of these still out there.

Found the link.

Link to OD web page showing kit $29.88.

yes, very sweet deal, I am setting it up as we speak.
I got in at this price, but the lucky ones before got in at $20 + the $15 rebate.

Geez us...

Where was I!? I thought it was a steal at this price! I am guessing the rebate offer is over?

I thought the "other" one.. was the "phone line" piece of crap.

This is so old already, that they archived the original thread which became the OfficeMax deal instead of the OD one that started. OM has it for $19 B&M if you can still find one and if the employees didn't grab it. I got two and with the rebate that was $4 each plus tax.:D Rebate is over for buying but if you got it before Dec. 31st, you have until Jan. 31st to postmark it.

yeah I have both PCI cards in the computer I'm using now, one to LAN (the 10/100 hub) and one to my cable modem. Thanks to Office Max I got the kit for $19 - $15 rebate(still waiting)+ Internet LanBridge + Sygate (just got it last week).

However the hub doesn't seem to like my old xircom ethernet PC card.

"Deal is good online at office Depot"

Yea, and I still have 2 backordered at $29 since around 12-1-00 that I don't ever expect to see.

Doesn't OD ever update their database?

TBP: Did you have the Lanbridge in the kit like the sticker says?
And then send in for the Sygate?
Are you using the Lanbridge now and how is it working if so?
Does the Lanbridge have a firewall in it?

I got zilch in my box (both of them). The a-holes at Linksys would not send me the Lanbridge CD that was supposed to be in there. I could send in for a "download" using same form like doing Sygate, but they wouldn't let me send in for both. I decided on Sygate because it is supposed to be better. Thing is it has a firewall that can't be disabled so I can use Zone Alarm instead. ZA vs Sygate in a test was won by ZA.

I'll check a couple other stores in my area... and see what I find.

Mine came with the Internet Lanbridge cd... but what is this about Sygate??? Is there supposed to be a coupon for it in the box or something?

Yes the LanBridge was in the box. I haven't tried it though. I have my cable internet shared using the option built-in in W2K. ZoneAlarm does a fine job but sometimes it blocks outlook express :( Right now I'm looking into a hardware router solution. I've tried using a Pentium 75 box as internet gateway, but a quiet and smaller router would be much preferred.

The NIC's in my OM kits are LNE100TX Version 4.1

Linksys has an offer to send in for Sygate software if you bought your kit within a certain date range....here is the link.... Sygate offer

Hey, Good find, ghouldini! I've used Sygate before, it's almost as good as a cable router. I got a couple of the OM packs last mo, so I'm in!

Styngygirl posted that Sygate link in the archived thread.

It is a Hub kit. 5-Port. Here is a link.... FENSK05

Anyone know how to find threads that are archived? I see no forum listed on maim forum page, and nothing in the search choices.
