Sorry to break it to you, but it's not very hot at all. Try looking at some laptops at dell.com or gateway. They are both having big sales - got many models with almost the same specs as this one you mentioned, but will give you a DVD and a few other components for about the same or less.

cheers,

if you're looking for a laptop and for prices much less than the vaio or dell versions, then i think this would be a steal. my girlfriend recently purchased the C-6611 and it is really nice and sleek. she really likes it. it is equipped with 4 USB ports, ethernet, modem, firewire, and she also got the CD-RW/DVD combo.

the price drop in this version, however, is because fujitsu has recently upgraded their C-series line from 1GHz to 1.13 or 1.2GHz processors, an upgraded bus speed from 100 to 133 MHz, and memory extended from max 256 to 768MB.

so this computer would be the "previous" generation of fujitsu laptops.

additionally, take into consideration the tax and shipping would push ur 1069 to close to 1200, especially in california.

not a bad deal, in my opinion, for this quality laptop.

cheers

Thanks for the input Theopilus.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything at Dell or Gateway that is close to this in price with a 14" screen. If anything, they are a couple hundred dollars higher with similar configurations and I've found Gateway to be more expensive than Dell in some instances.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think their prices are terrible. I think Dell and Gateway have quality products at both ends of the price spectrum, but I haven't found anything with a configuration that includes a 900Mhz processor, 14" screen, 256mb and DVD drive for $1119 before tax (unless it's refurb). Closest I've come is a Compaq at Best Buy.

I checked the review at epinions and noted that the bus speed was slower than new models. It could probably also do with a better video card.

In spite of this, based on my limited research in the past couple of weeks, I still feel this is a decent deal.
