There's actually a $150 rebate, just search the forums for "nikon rebate" and you'll find it.

I went ahead and placed an order with camerasound.com. Usually don't like to order from places I've never heard of but couldn't pass up the deal.

Please let me know if anyone's dealt with them, I figure I've got until tomorrow to cancel if I need to.

slink: Thanks for the deal.

Just called these guys as the price appears to be suspicously attractive. However, the salesman claimed to be "sold out" and rang off before I could ask my questions....

1.) Is your product eligible for the Nikon rebate?
2.) Is the product refurbished?
3.) How much is delivery?

Looks like I'll never know.

Reminder -- Today (Feb/26) is the last day for the photoalley.com Coolpix950 deal posted by ohio737. To reiterate the deal: $730 - $100 Feb Bonus - $150 Nikon rebate - $30 (5%) ebates.com = $450 (free shipping).

It's not a terribly great deal, since the same camera costs $350 back around Christmas. But if you missed that and don't want to wait any longer, you might want to take up this deal.

I didn't go for it as I've decided on the newer 990 model for its higher resolution. But this 3-year old 950 model (discontinued) is still very respectable by all standards.

Hooobi,

What happened with your order? Did you get an acknowledgment? A shipping notice?

I tried to order from them over the phone and then "placed" an order over the 'net, but have received no acknowledgment, call, .... nothing. My credit card company runs about 7 days late on posting charges and authorizations so I'm completely in the dark.

I placed my order on Sunday the 25th. Emailed them that evening, haven't heard back from them. Also tried calling but never got through to a real person.

I can see why they're rated "1" on resellerratings.com.

I just called camerasound, they said they are presently out of stock but will take orders if you are willing to wait a few weeks. If you had placed an other with them, you'd want to call them to make sure your order is being filled. Their number is 1800-3048721. Their website said they do not sell refurbished products, but make sure the Nikon $150 rebate works for what they plan to ship to you.

There is a distinct lack of Coolpix deals around this time. Either that or nobody is sharing it. The best deal from a reputable dealer seems to be photoalley.com. If you still want in on their $450 Coolpix950 deal, try calling them at 1-800-222-9409 and tell them you want in on the February $100 off $600 deal. Remind them that it is still February.

If you are a 35mm photographer, do be aware that Coolpix950 only has 3 aperture settings (wtf?). It will severely limit any sort of studio flash setup. This may be a big handicap, depending on how you plan use it.

Actually, forget about the Feb $100 deal. The 15% photo.net discount for photoalley.com (posted by bizzardo) will get you a Coolpix950 for $440 shipped. Can this possibly get any lower?

Actually... just found this Link for coolpix 950 at camera sound. Looks like 508 +20 for shipping so 528-150 MIR gives $378 to your door :).

Flessan - CameraSound do not have real-time inventory updates to their website. They are presently out-of-stock and in fact back-ordered. If you do intend to order from them, call them first.

Mother f--kers! I ordered off this link when it was first posted the other day, and...silly me...believed their "In stock: YES" message.

I haven't received as much as an order confirmation, as of this morning. We shall see...

emanon - Do call CameraSound toll-free 1800-3048721 to find out about your order. If, like me, you are connected to a rather rude sales person with a funny accent, just ask to speak to a supervisor. He will explain and apologize to you about not having a real-time inventory website, and I'm sure he'll be happy to reverse any charges.

I feel bad for posting that link, even though I was only soliciting advice about that sale. But the upside is that the photoalley.com deal is down to $440 and will last till March 5. Let's see if any better deals surface from now till then...

At the moment there don't seem to be any sub-$400 CoolPix950 deals, unless you are willing to take a remanufactured unit.

Dea - be wary of the remanufactured units. They only have 90 days Nikon warranty as oppose to 1 year for a brand new one. Here are some of the potential user problems that might need warranty coverage:

For those who bought the 880 and want to use the rebate, it seems Nikon requires that all products be purchased at the same store. Then after I told them PhotoAlley doesn't offer the rechargable battery, he said that at least the battery and charger must be purchased at the same store. This stinks, cuz I bought the charger with the battery and bought the battery at Computers4Sure.

For those who don't have the battery and charger, get it at Buy.com. They have cheaper prices and free shipping now (but you need to buy something else to put the total over $100).

I called the 1-800# for camera sound to check on the order I placed over the internet and got passed around to three people ending with a "I'm away from my desk, so please leave a detailed message ..."

The first answerer and the salesperson said that it sounded like I didn't have an order because I couldn't name my salesman; they do not recognize order #s, which is what I did get.

I just don't think these people have figured out e.business.

I also don't know if I have an order that might drop out of the sky in several weeks after I buy another camera and the Nikon rebate is passed.

I ordered through camerasound.com last Sunday. I followed up during the week and they had no record of my order. Furthermore, they were out of the camera. I was told to call back today, which I did. Still out of the camera, don't know if or when they'll get more in.

P*sses me off that they couldn't care less about their web site still showing "in stock" or about the inconvenience of those who thought they'd placed an order.

No wonder they're rated so poorly on resellerratings.com, I'm about to go over there and add my own thoughts.

Anyone know where you can still find a good deal on this camera?

www.Expresscameras.com has it for $509 plus shipping less rebate. The Price Grabber prices that were lower turned out to be for "refrbished" stuff that probably was ineligible for the rebate.

If camerasound works out on Monday or Tuesday, fine.

Otherwise I'm going for the Kodak 4800.

Well, yes, the page says that, but the shopping basket shows $509 and so does the final page before you have to enter your credit card. So, I'm now confused. If the camerasound thing doesn't work out, I'll try calling these people before moving on to the Kodak 4800.

Just talked to camera spound again and they are without a doubt the lammest e.business I 've run across.

We pretty much agreed that my order is cancelled and I'll never hear from them again.

So, a really great deal on this camera with the $150 rebate doesn't look promising.
