Hard drives fail way too often. I have a 60gig Maxtor HD that is going to fail anyday. Not only is it basically impossible to backup 50 gigs of data without shelling out a lot of cash, I have to go through the hassle of sending it back or be out a bunch of money!

These 7200 drives really are running too hot. Are the 120+ drives just as hot?
 
I wrote maxtor an e-mail and they confirmed my diamondmax 9 drives have a three year warranty since it was purchased before 10/01/02... These drives are fast fast compared to other maxtor drives, I had a 740DX and on the nero cache tab you can check the performance, well the 9 series drives come in at 49MB a second compared to 33mb a sec on the 740dx model... Nice drives too bad they only carry a one year warranty on all the drives made today and after, BTW the drives run cool compared to my other as well, the fluid bearings must help...
