I wonder if these 2100's will ever have Mac support, anyone know?

No clue on the MAC driver thing... I read that there is a emulation program out there that will let you run it, but I dont know the details.

Lmao

I fail to see what is funny. We are getting the mouse at less than half price, and if it is anything like the original it comes in a tin, so it's not like 10$ is that unrealistic, considering that they are shipping in small quantities and probably don't get the volume discount like a larger retailer would.

I hope they are shipping the newer versions now since I've seen a lot of posts about problems with the earlier 2100's. Hope they have most of the kinks worked out.

Are you sure? I can't find any information on their site that says so. Is there a link you have somewhere that specifies that it's optical?

The 2100 is not optical, it has a ball.

Tom says It's not any more precise than the mx310, and that most people prefer the mx310 as it's optical and does not have any mechanical resistance.

yeah the Toms review has been brought up before. read the entire thread.

Also, Tom doesnt actually use and real testing, he just has some people test and asks them what they prefered, this is far from scientific. All you are getting is Tom's testers opinions, your not actually getting a real test.

This is part of the reason why Toms sux.

I'm not sure if this is what Johnbear007 was referring to there is the USB Overdrive software that is supposed to allow a Mac to use a Boomslang. Unfortunately, the software isn't free. Here's a very old review for the Boomslang 2000 by a Mac-oriented that used this software. It's possible that the Boomslang 2100 will not function with this software but I haven't read any evidence to support this yet.

I loved my Boomslang. Big mouse with nice huge buttons that you pressed with your finger, seemed more precise to me, and was definatly great for a ball mouse.

I went through 3 in six months. No way I am wasting my money on another. Have had a $20 Logitech USB for last year without any problems. Now considering my Boomslang cost almost $100 when it came out that right there should tell you something.

The new mouse is not worth paying $40 to get. No matter how smooth it is their manufacturing sucks.

It's being manufactured by someone else now, so your argument is kind of meaningless

Just fyi.... I wrote and asvised razer that I didn't keep my old 2000 since it had the "squeak" and had nothing to send but wanted to give the 2001 a try. They said no worries and to go ahead and order and not send the "tail".......

I'd suggest just ordering and getting it.... not too sure how hard they are checking for "tails". Also the serial number box was left blank when I ordered per their instructions.

And on the other end of the ocean, my Boomslang 2k has seen *HARD* use every single day for the past 3 years. And it's still going strong.

I want to get in on this deal sooooo bad, but no Visa/Mastercard, just Amex. :( Wonder if they'll take a money order...

On another note, the preliminary preview at http://razer.tigga.org/2500-en.php mentioned a Boomslang 2500. Is that to say the 2100 is the lower end version, or is this just what the U.S. version is named? That preview mentioned the mouse running at 2500 dpi which leads me to think the 2100's the lower end model, like the 1000/2000. In which case, I'd gladly wait for the 2500 if that's just around the corner.

If I remeber correctly from following the news on it the 2500 was changed to the 2100 as there was issues with a few apps at 2500 dpi

It would be nice to get the new one but I don't want to have to cut my 2000 up just to get it cheap

Have had it for over 2 years and as long as I clean it once in a while its been great :)

That is correct, the 2100 is the only model. They found that 2500 was just too fast ans caused problems.

I have a 1000, so I think I this is a good deal personally.

well damn. I have a boomslang 2000 and I just don't have the $40 bones to cough up for the new mouse. I never used my mouse because when I bought it, it had the plastic wheels in the ball trap and the bad mouse wheel. Needless to say I am a little sketchy about getting a "new" one but when I used it minus the agervation it was a pretty nice mouse. felt great and was plenty heavy like I like it. I actually add weight to my mice to make them more sluggish :)

Thank for the responce
