I already have a Linksys router, but I found this deal great on their mail piece. Take a look:

SMC Barricade 4 PORT 10/100mbps Broadband Router for only $59.99

There isn't even an instant rebate or MIR so you can even price match it if you want (for those people who already bought it).

Another cool deal is their $49.99 computer desk. Too bad you can't order this online. Since they have BM locations in many states, you might be able to benefit from it.

Not that great of a price since this has been available in the past for $49 or even $39, I think. But, as you mentioned, it would be a great starting place to pricematch with another store that has coupons. Maybe Staples?

I saw a few posts for routers going for $69.99 with MIRs. This one doesn't so I thought it would be cool.

Where was it for $39.99? Can I get one at that price now? or was it through MIRs?

SMC is a much better router- built in Print server and all. Best deal I've seen- no waiting for rebates or anything.

One annoying thing about the SMC router is you cann't assign DHCP IP's based on MAC addresses. Don't know if other cheap home routers have this feature or not, but it may be worth looking into.

The SMC does support assigning DHCP IP's based on MAC address. I am not sure which firmware introduced it, but it is in ver 1.93s

The SMC and the D-Link are made by the same company. The SMC has the print server function, but the D-link is built stronger. Both are great units. You can't go wrong with either.

You can do fixed IP mapping in the later editions of the firmware (1.93c and up i think)

[edit] sorry keenan, didn't see you posted this already[/edit]

Good deal! Confirmed the $9.99 deal in Chicago area. I was thinking about picking it up for $29, but 10 bucks is even better. It rang up as $59 with both $30 and $20 rebates.

Latest Firmware 255b15 download (from dlink)

Since this is the same as the SMC, does anyone have any info on using SMC firmware on the dlink?

OT: I also returned the stupid free-after-MIR IBM webcam (with no "Registration card"). Not worth the trouble.

$9.99? Thought it was $29.99 for the D-Link. If it is $9.99, than it's HOT HOT HOT! Can anyone confirm. But I do prefer the SMC with the print server which is nice.

Killer deal I bought mine this time last year, easy to setup and little or no mess. I've only have to restart it 4 times. Print server is neat if you need it.

It's always been that cheap after MIR...so I think this is pretty good!

If it is the 7004BR (or even more recent ABR), with current firmware, static maping of MAC / IP addresses is available.

That can make life simpler / easier when running a particular service on a particular machine - say FTP, for example.

This is a good deal--I got in on the $39 after rebate awhile back but would still pay as much as $80 for this router...take advantage. Oh yeah, my rebate ($40) took almost exactly the specified 8 weeks..

Hey, thanks for the heads up on the new firmware for the Barricade. Guess I should have been checking, I was still running 1.90!

Yes it does
