I just spoke to an Egghead CSR about my order of 25 pieces (ordered Fedex and shipped). He said the item was misdescribed - they are 32meg sticks. Egghead apparently tried to catch the orders, but those that did have their orders shipped simply need to return their order if they don't want them. They will be contacting everyone else who order has not started processing to determine if they want to keep their order.

Egghead is SUCK.

1. 25 pieces?! Dear lord. The words "rat bastard" come to mind.

2. This sounds fishy, to say the least. Any further dirt?

WTF?!?

First its a misprice on 256MB sticks when they were updating the site, and now they say it was for 32MB sticks? Things are fishy when they cant keep their excuses straight...

Oh man, if they pull this "oh sorry, we mistakenly marked them as 32 MB DIMMS" b.s. I'm gonna be pissed. I did next day air on this order...and the shipping costs were phenomenal. Which they won't refund.

Egghead/Onsale is suck!

I don't buy the "they're 32 meg sticks" line. First of all, that would be an unusually good price even on 32 meg sticks from Egghead. (None of their other 32 meg memory is that cheap). Second, if it really is a 32 meg stick, and they really are trying to "catch" the orders, tehy should have no problem, since most of ours haven't shipped yet.

Something is not right. I just searched this forum and did not find any posts by PhalphorAlyer, looks like first post and there is no profile on this person!? I wonder if this is someone from Egghead!?

If I wanted to tick off a bunch of deal-hunting addicts, I would:

1. Create a new profile
2. Post about how I ordered 25 sticks (satisfies "greedybastage" requirement)
3. Post about how my order(s) shipped next day (satisfies "rub-their-nose-in-it" requirement)
4. Post a blurb about the 256MB sticks -actually- being 32MB sticks (satisfies "Uh-UH! But... I mean.." requirement)

If it's the real deal, swell, I'm still miffed and overcaffeinated.

If it's fake, swell, I'm still miffed and overcaffeinated.

If he got shipping confirmation, why would he call an Egghead CSR?

buy.com has the 256MB memory of the same mfr part# 101607, so the desc in egghead is definitely correct.

DO NOT BELEIVE PhalphorAlyer FOR 1 SECOND

I am almost positive that he is an Egghead troll.

The same thing happened with the gap.com fiasco from last spring.

A few incredibly hot deals got shipped. Then all of a sudden the gap
employees started hitting this board pretending to be regular users.
They had scary stories about how they got email from the gap about
gap suing all the anandtech users unless the users refused shipment.

Doesn't take THAT long for it to get posted does it?

This is interesting:

Sep 25, 2000, 6:41 am PDT Order placed.
Sep 25, 2000, 6:42 am PDT MasterCard ending in 0000 charged $146.35.
Sep 25, 2000, 7:10 am PDT Order sent to our warehouse for processing and fulfillment.
Sep 24, 2000, 5:00 pm PDT Order receipt acknowledged by warehouse.

Looks like the warehouse acknowledged receipt of my order about 22 hours before it was sent to them. Guess that puts me in front!

403Forbidden,

I'm trying to understand why they would do such a thing...
A scare tactic...

Do they really think were going to cancel our orders???

I mean no disrespect, just trying to understand what effect Egghead trolls would have.

"Oh gee, sorry to have ordered a product at an outstanding savings. I'll cancel my order because of your post."
