Just received mine. In white box with discs, power cables, and card. The card is an X800XT PE and not the X850XT like we hoped.

The card is brand new...I would say never installed and I would doubt the fan has ever been run. I have the advantage of working in a place where I can look at the AGP connectors under magnification and it appears the card hasn't been installed...

Anyhoo, X800XT PE for about 60% the going price...I'll take it 🙂
How come it says it is refurbished, if the card looks brand new? Do you guys think we are getting brand new cards, just not in the retail box?

Tell me how it runs!!! lol

We were hoping the core would be a X850 core. ATI did it with the later model 9800 Pro's, put a 9800 XT core in the 9800 Pro. You have to remove the HSF and see what the number is on the core. Technically it voids the warranty.

Economics at its best (for consumers that is🙂 ATI made and dumped cards trying to look better for their financial quarter which ends on August 31. They called them "refurbs" because they don't want peeps thinking this will happen again (i.e., NEW "high end" cards available on the cheap). And it may not happen again. Consider yourself lucky if you got in on any of the these ATI deals.

I do think there may be a few more deals on ATI cards over the next couple of weeks, but there most likely will be fewer deals. I'm hoping to land a high end PCI-E card in a the near future (fingers crossed).

Wouldn't SiSandra indicate the graphics core (an older version of SiSandra worked for my 9800 Pro with respect to the R350 and R360 cores)?

I'm pretty sure ATITool can show the core model.

Someone who got one today, check the core... lol

Just received the shipping email from ATI with a tracking number. I had already verified mine shipped last night through the Fed-Ex trick. I ordered on 8/5.

You can check this when you remove the stock HSF and add an aftermarket cooler like the Arctic cooler. 😀

Put in a order at CoolerGuys for my Compaq SR1010z 3400+ and my X800 XT PE. The stock CPU cooler is noisey and cheap. These prices are cheaper then Newegg and no tax if you live in California:thumbsup:

So Slacker, I take it you'll be installing the AC silencer 4?

Again, aren't you worried about voiding your 3 year warranty on a supposedly "refurbed" card?

And BTW... don't think we can post coupon codes

Coupon code is posted for all to see on the coolerguys website, so I think that makes it okay. Personally, I'm leaving mine stock. From all I've read, these XT PEs are already near the limits of GPU/mem clockspeeds so OCing yields limited performance increases. Not enough to void a 3 year replacement warranty, in my mind.

hey guys,

at what point is your vid card bottlenecked by your CPU? i have a dell 2.66 ghz with 1 gb of ram. its currently running on a geforce 5200.

I read a review on these and if I recall correctly it said that you really need a 3 GHz for this card to shine. I think it was at guru3d!
I have a P 2.4 so I am sort of worried about this too.

I got a barton 2800+ so im still happy, if you need a 3GHZ for it to shine, then this card will last me awhile. Not worried at all, leaves alot of room for upgrading in the future and still having a kick arse video card.

Score looks kind of low. My a64 3200+ with unlocked and overclocked 6800nu gets like 10500 on 3dmark03. I got over 12k when I had 6800 Ultra stock.

SWEEEEET deal w/ the updated drivers.

I'm on the same boat as your earlier P4 processor folks running a a P4 2.66 w/ 533FSB

I'm only running PC2700 RAM... pretty sure I'm going to be bottlenecked. I'm even more worried about my Dell's 250w power supply!

Haha, I'm worried for you too! I HIGHLY recommend you go buy a good PSU before you fry half your system!
