The 320x240 capture size of the device shouldn't come close to 11Mbps provided by USB 1.1. I'm not saying it's a great device (I don't know), but the fact that it's 1.1 shouldn't necessarily stop you from buying.

I would recommend that you stay away from these USB 1 capture cards. I bought this Dazzle DVC 80, and although the USB bandwith was supposed to be good enough, it wasn't. Every now and then the video would drop lots of frames, and the sound was always dropping out. Stay away from these, instead do as I did and buy a PCI capture card, such as the TV Wonder or the one I bought, the Leadtek Winfast TV2000 Delux.

PCI is way better than USB. With the Delux, I am able to record 720x240 video with no dropped frames or dropped audio.

I really would like to get a USB 2.0 capture box; I've got a Dell Precision laptop from work, and I'd like to take advantage of its cojones. Any suggestions?

USB is not recommended mode of transfer of video from camera to PC due to its slow speed. As Spongey said, it will have a lot of drop frames during capture. It is better to use PCI card but the best way to transfer video is using firewire specially if your using a DV camera.

Very true my friend. A bitrate of 2500 kb/s should give you great results and that is only 1/5th the USB 1.1 standard.

I saw this for $20 or so at Compusa once. Back then, I didn't have a PCI TV card, so I read some reviews on the Dazzle 80. While the 2500kb/s may only be 1/5 of USB's bandwidth, the reviews for this product weren't so great after all.
