Yup, that was the coupon originally for... They just goofed and let you order without a computer. I think you can view the actual AD in their website.

BTW, isn't a bad idea to give out your order#?? Some OD jerk might lookup your order and um, "accidentally" charge you full price. And yep, they seem to be doing it too... See FW.

My "waiting to fill" delivery order status is still the same, except that my delivery date has been pushed back to 3/24 from 3/20.... Dang!! Why couldn't I be one of the ones who got their dates pushed up instead?

P.S. I just talked to somebody that I was transferred to that said that they were going to make people who did this either send it back or go buy a desktop/laptop. Good luck to all of you who got a hold of this deal. Hopefully, you guys won't have to do something so drastic!!!

B&M = Brick & Mortar (i.e a physical STORE FRONT)

For those being shot down by their local store managers w/ this deal, I'll post my HUGE YMMV success a little later tonight.

Cool... I was getting nervous, but mine just arrived. It says $21 on the invoice, so maybe I'm safe. :D

Now I need to find a cheap wireless USB device for this to talk with...

I can't seem to find a USB receiver that is compatible with the "expanded" 802.11b 22MBPS. D-link doesn't have one in the "Air Plus" family. Guess I'll have to buy their Air Plus NIC?

Great router I have one couldn't be more pleased.

The wireless from my room second floor reaches through the whole house.

The router I've never had any problems with. Except when I upgraded the firmware it didn't work right. May have just been the way i had it setup. If it works don't touch it :)

I've been running it ever since oculdn't be more pleased.

I recently added a range expander made by linksys (i think) onto it. IT now reaches my neighbors house about 3/4 of an acre away through the woods. We play lan games over it quite comfy and transfer files at around 2-3megs a second.

Just received mine today, 1 day early. They didn't even charge me shipping, maybe because it originated from my neighboring city. There was no UPS or FedEx shipping label on the box, just an OfficeDepot label. They even charged me lower tax than my city charges. Cool! Cheaper than going to B&M. I just have to keep my eye on my Credit Card account to make sure they only charged $20+tax. The charge has not been posted yet.

Ok, I've got a few minutes to kill. This is going to be long...

On Sunday, the day this deal started, I attempted to order this router on-line, but it was OOS in my zip code. Using the alternate ZIP CODE "OD EXPLOIT" (something I've posted about in previous threads), I was able to place an order FOR DELIVERY. I was also able to place a subsequent order for STORE PICKUP; however, only to a store in a completely different STATE (i.e. nowhere near me).

The FOR DELIVERY order was (until today) listed as "3 Days Delivery Pending" w/ the correct $67.74 price & $47.74 coupon. Today that order has changed to "Completed Marked Out," where the item's price has been zero'd out w/ no mention of the coupon. A subsequent order has been entered into my OD account (an order I never submitted) listing the router at $67.74 and no coupon! :| It looks like my FOR DELIVERY order is toast (although I'll fight that battle if/when I recieve the FOR DELIVERY router).

In the mean time, I took my STORE PICKUP web receipt to a LOCAL OD which had the router in stock. At the customer service desk was a Customer Service Manager. I explained to her that I had ordered the router on-line for store pickup yet somehow it chose an OD completely out of state (nowhere near me). The CSM seemed like she was willing to xfer the order over from the wrong store to her store; however, she didn't know how to do that. She called for a store manager, and an Assistant Manager showed up. He started giving me the shpiel about how he won't be able to honor my order because the coupon code I used requires the purchase of a Laptop computer. He even showed me the sales flyer which lists the coupon stipulation.

I disagreed with him saying that it wasn't clearly listed that way on Office Depot's web-site. He then asked me to show him where I found the coupon. We walked over to a computer in the store and I proceeded to show him as follows:
1) Go to preview.officedepot.com
2) On the right hand side click, where it says Advertised Specials, click "View Specials"
3) On the next page, click the link on the right for "Computers & Software"
4) Then click the link for "Computer Network Products"

If you stop right there, you can see the router listed along w/ the coupon code and no mention (on that page) of needing to purchase a computer. It does say something about a "Combined purchase," but it doesn't say what that purchase is. Thus, it's AMBIGUOUS!

He then clicked on the router link itself which opened up a page which listed the COMPUTER PURCHASE stipulation. I argued that it didn't matter, since the previous page listed the information. I explained that I had followed the information OD supplied, ordered the item on their web-site, and the order was accepted. He still wouldn't budge. I then said that this is a very shady business practice on the part of OD.

We headed back to the customer service desk where he proceeded to look further at my order. His final decision was that he couldn't honor it. I was about to leave the store in disappointment when I said to him "This is very shady. What's the number for the district office?" He said "hang on," walked away for a about 5 minutes and came back. When he returned he said "Why don't we call Corporate Customer Service right now and see if we can resolve this matter?" I agreed. He called up, asked for "Internal Customer Service," and spoke w/ an internal CSR for about 5 minutes explaining everything that I was arguing. After he and the Internal CSR agreed with his position, he wisely passed the phone over to me. About 30 seconds into my conversation w/ the Internal CSR, the "REAL" store manager walked up to me and said "you can hang up. I'll honor the price." She then told her employees "this is our mistake, not his. Honor the price. Ring it up with the coupon code. If it doesn't work that way, lower the price." And honor it they did! :D

Although I didn't deal with the store manager until the very end (when she walked up to me while on the phone w/ the Internal CSR), it's embarassing to a store manager for a customer go above his/her head to try and resolve such a dispute. If you maintain a calm yet forceful demeanor (as I did), if you act as though you're 100% in the right on the matter, and if you try going up the corporate food chain, you too may luck out.

The above is a HUGE YMMV, but it's worth a shot!

P.S. After asking the Asst. Manager for the District Office phone #, when he walked away for 5 minutes, he probably went to discuss the matter w/ the Store Manager.

P.S.S. Thanks for the deal! :)

Good work.
Nearly any time you raise a fit (but aren't a blabbering idiot about it), especially
using the words "travesty" and "district office/manager," you're in good shape.

When I bought mine, the manager said "Hrm...Use the coupon code. If that doesn't
work, we'll override it." Took about 5 seconds.

Gotta love the slack managers.

Nova13, I have a question for you. I get my internet wirelessly from my neighbor. I have two computers and two adapters. I bought this router only to be able to play games through the two computers I own, since the internet is already covered. How do I do that? D-Link wouldn't help me on this and I can't find anything about it.

hahahah yeah right like they are going to enforce that how? If they make the mistake and ship it to you or sell it to you they cant change the deal.

They delivered mine this afternoon. As of yesterday it was waiting to be pulled from the warehouse. So apparently no one made any attempt to stop shippment of any orders.

I bought two in store in Oakland (the last 2 btw) and paid in cash. I didnt want them charging extra to my CC if they realized the mistake.

some people were saying that they were getting charged the full price AFTER the product arrived, even though their invoice/online purchase price was $21.xx?

Don't think the law allows merchants to sell you an item at a certain price and then charge you a higher price for it after you received it(breach of contract). Hope I don't have to deal with this....better watch my credit card stmt closely....

Thats messed up if OD does that. I just check my CC and I haven't been charged as yet for the 2 routers I bought. Maybe the forgot :)
If they charge me full price, I'm gonna give them hell and if all else fails I'll let my CC company deal with them.

There has to be laws against charging you more than whats stated on your receipt. Your online receipt/invoice/email confirmation shows the terms of what you agree to pay for the item (I agree to buy a D-Link Wireless router for $21.40). I gotta look into it more just incase. Anyone know more about this issue??
