Well this is the lowest i've seen prices dip on the 256GB M4 (previously i believe it was ~$180). anyways, here's the pertinent info:

product: Crucial M4 CT256M4SSD2
promo code: EMCYTZT2293 (enter it at checkout)
expires: midnight tonight (Pacific Time)

also, courtesy of forum member NickelPlate, the Crucial M4 CT256M4SSD3 (the mSATA version of the Crucial M4 256GB) is selling for $170 shipped at newegg right now, no promo code, no rebate.

happy shopping everyone!

I think this was $150 on buy.com like a week ago and $160 on TD last week but this is a great price. I picked up the 330 last week but I'm tempted to get this anyway since the other drive is just sitting in the newegg box still. MC has the same price currently but there's a rebate and they do charge for shipping (~$5 for me). However, they also have some of the other sizes available. 512 is $330 after $40 rebate + shipping.

Use mrrebates for like 2 or 3% cashback at newegg

(edit: buy.com has it for $160 also. Good if you use their cashback system)

Wow, that's a great deal! Does this SSD use a Sandforce controller? I have only purchased Samsung SSDs up until now b/c of all the issues associated w/Sandforce.

This is a terrific deal. Though I'm now waiting for Black Friday to pick up some 512GB SSD for my HTPC. I'm going totally stealth silent. Go big or go home. :)

Just looked at the mobo on Newegg. I'm looking at the picture, and I can't see the mSata port, where is it? I see it in the specs.

Why? I just don't get mSata on the desktop. What is the benefit and use case? What am I missing?

In short, flexibility.

1. Size. Doesn't take up any drive bays. Good for people with SFF PCs since they're about the size of a business card.
2. Can still be used in a standard drive bay with an inexpensive adapter card.
3. Can be used in laptops/ultrabooks with msata connectors.

It is on the bottom side of the board. Look at the image of the bottom. It is to the left of the CPU and just above the RAM.

why would you get msata when that dude on ebay is selling the ibm 5014 (AKA LSI 9260-8i ) for $130 just add/hack a cachecade/fastpath key and shit gets real.

... because the only PCIe slot on the mini ITX board will have a GTX 670 in it? Also, my case is a Lian Li PC-Q11B which only supports 5 drives total (1xODD, 2xSSD, 2xHDD) so having a bunch more SATA ports is not very useful.

Thanks for sharing that advice Emulex. I had no idea these had become so inexpensive, almost tempts this RAID newb before Black Friday hits.
