Hot: Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer $50 AR

Cheaper than the Extreme Music card for $55 that's been around forever. I believe this one has a connector for a mobo's integrated audio which Extreme Music doesn't.

How good is this card? I might pick it up since it has the connector for the integrated audio if it is indeed true.

I had the Xtremegamer, and had to sell it. It looks like it uses cheaper components than XtremeMusic, so the sound wasn't as good.

I have the extreme gamer. Assuming AC97 sound is free since it's built into most motherboards, the EG card is worth around $20 max. I can't detect any difference between the EG and AC97.

I got the Extreme Gamer for around $46 on Ebay and I think it is way better than AC97 and much better than the Audigy SE it replaced. All my music and games sound excellent.

For those who aren't deaf, this is a nice sound card. Unless you are using optical out, everything will sound better on this compared to onboard.

Listen to this guy.

Pump it out to some high quality speakers and enjoy the sound.........

I have the Extremegamer and it is a fantastic card. Much better than any OB sound, which as a previous poster "assumed" was free is not. This price is pretty darn smoking too.

Unless you are using crappy speakers and/or poor quality audio sources, this is an excellent sound card. I can definitely tell a difference on my Logitech speakers versus onboard sound. CD quality music makes vocals sound as if the person is actually in the room, and features like X-Fi Crystallizer really help tweak the listening experience to exactly what I want. I recommend the X-Fi Gamer card, especially at this price, even for non-gamers.

Note: I'm not an audiophile, though I do appreciate quality in music and audio. If you're a person who can't tell the difference between 128 Kbps MP3 and 320 Kbps mp3 or CD quality music, then this card might be a waste of your money.

This is definitely improvement over the regular Realtek crap sound, but not as much different from the ADI ones. If you want real improvement, see if you can pick up the XtremeMusic used at forums for $50 or brand new one for $90-100. They're pretty much discontinued, but I had them and they sound MUCH better than Xtremegamer.

thanks for that, i was on the fence for one for my brother, but i wondered which was superior, i guess i'll just get another XM. i mainly held off because i've seen a lot of people say the XG is just a cheaper manufactured version of the discontinued XM which is a full blown xfi w/o the xram but is just as good as the high end cards and has all the features.
