Hot? Cost + 7% at CompUSA on Saturday

I wonder if the item's mail in rebates still valid. I want to setup a home wireless network and could use a good router.

It could be hot only if they would provide the copies of their purchase invoices. Otherwise, they can call it whatever they want.

Anyone know if this would be a good deal for PDA's? my wife wants one but I am not sure what markup is on a PDA.

hm...no idea what they markup to.
I gues it would be ALL relative. just do your research on prices on the PDA, Jim. And then go check out at the store to see if its worth it or not.

it doesnt seem like anything unless we know what the real cost is to compUSA for these items.

the margin on computers, pdas, digital cameras at the major electronics retailer i work at is very small, less than 10% usually. this sale could be very meaningless..

yeah, things to buy in this deal
Cables and small things, monster cables cost like 5 bucks when i worked at the yellow tag store. Car stereo equipment, believe it or not this is the biggest proffit margin stuff. TV's have a decent markup, epsically tube tv's. Computers have zero markup, some that were sold the store lost money on. Small electronics items suck though just like terrytate said above, little to no markup

"Offer excludes all accessories and all Bose, Alpine, Mitsubishi and Velodyne Products. Home entertainment includes audio components, home theater systems and home dvd recorders. some exclusions apply."

no cables for you!

I'm gonna go look for a network-ready color laser printer. Hopefully, they'll have one in stock somewhere...

edit:
according to compusa.com the only audio components they have are "a/v accessories, a/v cables, boom boxes, and headphones" and the boom boxes are online only, so I don't know what audio components actually are applicable, maybe just headphones?

anyways, here's to hoping that markup on printers is pretty big :wine:

Would PC speakers be home audio? I know they markup pc speakers to hell and I'm looking at buying some. This could be gold for me if it does count.

The clerk who waited on me didn't even know about this cost plus deal. He just said, "the register up front will take care of any promotions"!

Man, I hate that place. Was just there for the Antec Sonata deal.

They don't like people like us. They want to prey on the uneducated PC user who will be willing to over spend on the accessories and upgrades they recommend to them!
