HOT: Core-i5 2500K $160 at Microcenter (B&M only)

Have to "like" them on FB, get email a link to a custom coupon (has barcodes with your email on it so it can't be abused easily), and $160 in store. This supposedly works with the $50 off 2500k z68 mobo combos as well. Under $300 for basically any mobo with this cpu. Pretty good deal IMHO.

1) Go here: https://www.facebook.com/MicroCenter?sk=wall
2) On the left side click exclusive deal
3) Enter information
4) Get code, print out
5) ????
6) PROFIT!

Ripped from HardForum.

EDIT: FYI my coupon is good until 12/26. Not sure if it's a dated thing (i.e. x days from when you register) or a hard 12/26 date. Just an FYI though.

Very hot, especially if it works with the $50 off...might end up being perfect timing for me...heading to MC after work...

Sigh...
This is incredibly frustrating for those of us with no Micro Center. I might have to see if I can convince my father-in-law to drive the 45 miles to the Tustin one to pick me up a MB/CPU combo and ship it up to Canada.

I put a 2500k and a z68 mobo in my cart and the $50 dlls aren't deducted as they were a couple of days ago... is that deal still on?

I haven't personally tried it, however I have seen a few people say it does in fact work.

I haven't confirmed this (might be B&M only as well). However the coupon does NOT have any restrictions that would prevent it from being used with that deal. Plus their online ad (http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/6c0e1022#/6c0e1022/27) on page 27 shows that deal is still going on.

I would say this works, or you could bitch enough to their CSR's to get it (as it is advertised and not prohibited in any print).

I tried with a Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 and it worked. Haven't tried the $20 off code yet though.

Thanks actually the only mobo that get cut $50 dlls... all the others stay at regular price. But the $20 2500k coupon is store only... can't apply it online.

Dammit. I have Frys within reasonable distance but no Microcenter. Frys has been slacking for the last year on CPU/motherboard deals.

Sigh...

Pfft, I drive from SD to Tustin just for the deals 🙂 Going to see if I can get this with the combo. Thanks.

I can't get the $50 off discount to work with the Z68 mobo I want either, but as mentioned above, it's listed on page 27 of their current online & printed ad.

One of the reps at the store told me last week that the discount doesn't work with every combo online & manual entry at the store is often required.

That would be my guess about it.

yeah, just ordered a i5-2500k off newegg, $219

these just keep getting cheaper and cheaper. is it time for me to finally pick one up and upgrade? How do I apply the discount for mobos instore?

Can't you get NCIX.us to pricematch Microcenter's price? I've never tried it, but I've read that people have done this before.

I've tried twice, once when NCIX had them for $219.99 and once just yesterday when I spotted it on sale for $199.99 thinking I'd have a better chance. Both times they counter-offered $199.00 saying they don't match in-store only.

I bought a retail 2500K for $149 on a Frys one day sale
Also went to Frys yesterday and there was a big banner on building "We Match Internet Prices", which is of no use here of course

So, even though I printed out page 27 earlier today, I somehow managed to totally overlook the fact that MC swapped the 2600k for the 2500k combo deal. I'm pretty damn sure I saw the 2500k as part of the deal yesterday.

So, yes, $160 does make this a good deal, but not nearly as hot as it would have been.

OP, not your fault (guessing you missed it too). I'm just glad it was less than a 10 minute drive or I would've been seriously pissed off for missing that minute detail.

Oh, that's a dick move updating the December Deals flyer 2/3rds of the way through the month.

I agree, but in their defense (believe me, I would rather not defend them at this point, but only because I didn't get what I wanted), their ad does indicate the 2500k was part of the combo from 12/5 - 12/18.

So yes, our oversight, but the way I look at it, not only did they lose out on my $500+, who knows how many other deals they lost out on. NewEgg will get the bulk of my money now (MB & RAM) & MC will only get the CPU business. Interesting strategy on their part. I'm guessing Intel has their hand in these decisions, but to think they'd sell more 2600k's than 2500k's is strange.

yeah ncix price matching sucks. I tried dealing with them once and they could/would not even price match the difference of $5

lost my business.

Interesting. I saw other people who said the combo DID in fact work still on the 2500k.

Regardless, time to go pick up my cheap CPU and if they won't do that deal then get my mobo elsewhere. No biggie.
