Not exactly its not cash rebate it forces you to spend more money at CompUSA and I don't know about you but I rarely buy from CompUSA as their prices are rarely impressive. However this might be really hot if you combine this with some item with a rebate or something to that effect.

took me five months and eight phone calls to get a $50 giftcard from a $200 hard drive.

needless to say i'll never do that again.

Bestbuy is even worse! they tried to tell me i already got it, and it's replacement when i had'nt even seen one.
i can't understand where the hell that came from, but sure enuff i heard it on the phone.

i got my cards from both stores after pulling teeth...

Never ever going to shop either of them again.

Good find, Wei!

Still a hot deal if you are going to buy anything there. Pricematch from other stores for the GC's and it's free money, granted you have to spend it at CompUSA.

is this deal confirmed by anyone else?
they dont have an ad circular out nationally this week, so dunno how anyone would know about the deal unless they go into a store or get an email
the game consoles are looking mighty nice...the giftcard would become a game later :)

This offer only came to people on compusa email mailing list.
check the other deal site for links
Compusa prices are sooooo high that even with the card it just not worth it for me.
Doesn't seem to be anything good at the other stores to even get them to pricematch.
Pretty stale week for retail store hot deals so far.

I saw a similar thread at f@tw@llet with parts of the email posted as well as links to a coupon if anyone is interested. I'm still trying to get a copy of the email though if anyone has it. Is there a rebate form that we fill out or something after we make the purchase at compusa and if so is that in the email or can we just pick that up at compusa?

Thanks...

Did you ever contack them NICKel, and ask them what's taking so long? Sometimes they just need a push because that rebate that you signed is a contract and they have to go through with it, if they don't go out of business, and if you've fulfilled all of the requirements. If you already gave them a call, give them another, and tell they tell you when they expect it to be mailed. Hope it works out.

Skip to the third paragraph if you are in a hurry.

Went to CompUSA yesterday, and the rebate lady/security guard didn't know anything about the deal but told me that the rebate form might be on www.cusarebates.com. I went again today, hell bent on getting a Lian-li and asked the cashier. Cashier strolls over to customer service who tell me to go to Business services. Meanwhile the manager is puttering around and luckily, the cashier (who is a sweetheart) points out the manager, so I flag him down. The manager doesn't know much about it but says something like call so and so (who may have been the same person at customer service) to punch in 'xyz code' for a gift card. I say that the cashier forked (sorry I am a Unix geek) me over to Business services, and he says oh he can do it too. Meanwhile he ducks into the little hidey hole office, you know the one with mirror window that you can look out of from the inside ... but I digress .... So I go to business services as ask the guy if he know what to do, he doesn't but gets on the phone and calls the previous so-and-so for the gift card. So I chew the fat with the business guy who was unabashiedly pro-Intel and after about five minutes of waiting, the manager pops out of the little hidey-hole with a nicely printed rebate form. There's more, but it undoubtedly belongs in brag-and-moan.

Long story short: Bring copy of e-mail. Purchase $x worth of stuff. Get manager to print-out rebate form if they haven't gotten 'clue' yet. Rebate form states you need to send in copy of receipt and original UPCs. Mail to New Rochelle POB821. Receive course credit at Clown University for hoop-jumping class. The rebate form doesn't mention that tax is or is not included, so keep a copy of the e-mail that says 'tax included' if it matters for your situation.

P.S. I still <heart> CompUSA.

I was going to post this as a hot deal thread by itself but I'll just mention it here. I picked up a Radeon 8500LE for $149.99 plus tax for 157.49. After the $50 Gift Card that makes the card $107.50 which I think is pretty hot for a card of that calibur. What do you guys think?

- J

Edit: True it's not a rebate but it's still $50 that I can spend at CompUSA. I can say with 100% certainty that I'm going to spend $50 at Compusa in the next year so I am in effect, saving myself $50 cash that I would have spent anyway. Since I'm sure I would spend that $50 at Compusa regardless I am effectively getting $50 of merchandise for "FREE".

I was at the local B&M today, the last day of the "gift cards" email promotion. No one in the store knew what to do. I asked for the rebate form or more information and they claimed to be uniformed about "what is coming from Corporate".

They offered to give me a credit for a future purchase based on the signature of the available manager. When I made my choices, that same person offered to instantly deduct the $50 off the $150 purchase. One of the items carries a rebate as well. YMMV, but it's worth a try. InCompetentUSA sometimes makes a decent deal.
