aGeNt73, the one you link to at CompUSA is a totally different model, the CP1. The one at Best Buy is the CP2.

I went to 5 BB in the Mpls, MN area tonight and none had it. Most had the shelf tags with the discount price but no wireless routers... Just so you know, if you can find them, the Compaq PCMCIA cards are also on clearance for $36.50 after rebate.

All the other Compaq network hardware is on clearance too (and was in stock at most of the stores I went to). They had NICs for about $3, USB ethernet adaptors for about $15, and a 5 port switch for about $20. All prices are after rebate.

Anyone know if I can get a price match somewhere with the shelf tags? Does anyone else sell the Compaq network gear? Does AmEx price match shelf tags?

Also, even if you find one, it looks like this deal might be dead after 1-31. The shelf tags say offer ends 1/31/02 which, to me, means the rebates expire then.

you missed the wireless cards Z

work needed a cheap wireless setup for a demo

$119 for router -$30
$73 for cards -$20 x 2

not too bad, cheaper than my netgear setup at home.

the router seems very basic (cheap and light), but we'll see how it works. And keep an eye on BB prices and have them PM if they drop to the $80 level.

The BB on the 5 still has 15+ of these routers, and some cheap USB adaptors too.

Ok, so I'm in Indianapolis at the Washington Street location on the East side.

The BB has spots on the shelf for everything although at the higher prices but no stock.

They had one PCMCIA Compaq card with an open box and I argued them down to $58.50. Take off the $20 rebate and it nets $38.50 plus tax.....I bought it as the box was beatup but the inside sleever was pristine.

Since they have not removed the tags from the shelves I'd keep an eye out for stock that yet may arrive.

Rally, shame I missed the cards . .just have to wait for the next Anandtech golden bargain! I just accidentally upped my good deal - I was in a PM discussion with another ATer who mentioned that he got his from the very same I5 BB, pricematched to the bargain price on the shelf ticket from LA. Long story but in the end the deal became even sweeter!

Now if only someone wants an RT314 that I picked up last year (also from AT hot dealz) in return for a nice wireless card . . . I'm in Mission Viejo if anyone wants to swap (PM me ;) )

By the way - still loads on the shelf next to the PC sales desk.

Can someone post a scan of the receipt of $87.50? Just saw one yesterday at BB, but at $131.50.

Anyone who has this. Have you been able to get your FTP hosting working? Ive never had problems with my SMC and Linksys but this one configs differently in virtual server. Global port/local port? Huh? I have them both set at 21 now but I still am stuck.

CP-2w virtual server settings

As for the deal. I got in last minute for the rebate. And its a nice router. Even if you miss on the rebate its still a good find since everyone else sells similar items for $150+. Unfortunately i eb@yed my smc so I'm stuck with this and its FTP problem.
