Went out to eat lunch with my wife [she bought!:)] and just happened to stop by Best Buy...

Campaq ' Ipaq Connection ' Kit...Cable Router, 4 port 10/100 switch and Wireless 802.11b ...all in one!

Closeout @ $87.50 less $30 rebate that prints at the register = $57.50 plus tax after rebate.....

Model # CP-2W Part #241274-001 SKU#4305273

Maybe not the best in wireless, but for the price it cannot be beat!

It was on the shelf in the Networking Component aisle and I got the only one at the Fairview Heights Illinois location....

I've been looking for a wireless AP for awhile now. This looks like a good deal, I'll check my local best buy too :) Hope they have it.

I bought this setup on closeout @ BB.It's a good deal for the $. I have my son's computer, wife's computer and a lappy all on the network.USB wireless adapters run $46 after $10 rebate. It's easy to install with good range(access point is upstairs in one end of the house--son's computer is in basement at other end of house--still gets good signal).I've got the whole network for less than I would have paid for the access point not so long ago.

is this 128 bit encryption or the lower one (48 bit, not sure) ?

any cheap wireless card suggestion ?

should I wait for the 802.11a ?

it seems that wireless connection max out at around 3-4MB transfer rate..

any advice ?

Heck yeah! I thought this was a great deal when I bought it for 109 minus the $30 rebate.... time to go back to the store and get a price reduction!

edit: read a question that was posted above this, but it was too late and I already posted. This thing supports 128bit WEP encryption. Plus it has all of the features of those $100+ broadband routers, including DHCP and NAT and such. It would be a decent deal even if it wasn't a wireless network access point..... if you see one, buy it.

Well I went to Best buy and found it for 119-30 rebate=89. They told me they would accept a receipt from another store to get the lowered price. Yet, it was on clearance.
But I found an Ipaq wireless PCMCIA for $49 with $20 rebate which brings it down to $29. I also bought a Ipaq USB wireless adapter for $56 with $10 rebate. With my 10/100 Etherfast card that completes a nice network wirh DSL and my Ipaq PocketPC

None available in San Diego area.

Don't bother calling (and getting hung up on twice after waiting 10 minutes each time) like I did.

Just picked one up from the Mission Viejo BB (off I5 at Oso - then Cabot road) They have a pile of these - both on the shelf and another 20 or 30 beside the computer sales desk. Sadly they were not on clearance - just the $119-30 MIR - but I managed to snag an open box for $99 less $30. I'm pretty happy with $70ish for a decent wireless router. No lappie wireless cards on sale that I could see, thats next on my buying list . . any suggestions ATers?

Thanks for the post.

Get the 3com wireless card. Look on the forums, its about $80. A little more than you can get some for, but the antenna retracts into the card, so it dosent hang out your laptop when you arent using it. And if you have a laptop you know what a problem dongles haning out can be.

<< only problem w/ the 3com card is that it doesn't support 128bit WEP :( >>

The current shipping 3COM X-Jack 802.11b wireless PC card supports 128-bit WEP. Older cards can be upgraded here

BB has their own clearing house for rebates and they can be tracked on line so they are better than some in that respect.

<< I saw it at Compusa B&M for $99, its on their website for the same price.

http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=284920

If we print this page out and show it to BB, would they do a PM?

70'ish for this isnt too bad a deal is it?

How's BB with MiR's anyways?

I found this at Compaq's website:
Compaq Networking Rebates

Can we use this rebate if we buy the AP from another place besides BB?
>>

Isn't that (the CompUSA one) a different access point than the CP-2W?
