I was shopping for stagate sg1 season 1-3 dvd recently and found that on amazon.ca they are verry cheap. 34.50 canadian. where on amazon.com they are over 40 usd.

And if you're buying seasons 2 and 3, each 34.49 separately, buy both as a bundle for 68.98! Save even more!

(must be some weird Canadian mathematics. ;))

OK. I have never bought any videos from CA so here goes the funky question. If viewed here in the US does my DVD player have to do any different region code? Also in the CA version do they say "ah" alot? :) My luck this will be the french version. :)

I believe all of North America is in Region 1

When id doubt open and read the website. It says "Region 1 encoding (US and Canada only)" OK I feel stupid now. One last question. Why is only season one listed as widescreen? Is there a wide and full screen version of theses? This time I looked before posting.

I have all the seasons out and I can confirm that they all have the widescreen function, not just season 1.

These are identical to the U.S. releases -- no region difference, no french writing on the box, no difference in sound or video. This is a great deal !

dvdtalk has some codes to save $5 canadian on an order which will lower the cost a bit. It is located in the amazon coupon thread.

Perfect timing for the Season 7 finale. That was a good episode. I think I'll reward the producers by buying some of their DVDs.

Checked it out and it came to about 90$ us shipped for the first 3 seasons for me. Definitely better than 50-60$ for one season. Nice find.

Here's maybe an obvious tip: Go to Bloomberg Calc and watch
the Canadian/USD currency rates. It appears the CAD is going down a bit against the dollar, so if you
have these in your cart and do a calculation you might find you can save a few bucks, and when it
gets to the level you like, Proceed. Of course, it depends on which date the Canadians actually charge
your card, but proper timing allowing for processing is not a bad idea. Not a huge deal since this "Hot Deal" is
fantastic anyway. At Amazon US it's like $153.00 for these three; so $85US versus $153.00 is quite a savings.

I really wonder why this has taken so long to become an issue (currency and price differences).
Thanks to the heads-up by Dark4ng3l! I've checked-out other DVDs I might want, but can't really find
a better deal, although "Independence Day - Limited Edition 2 disk" is coming-out on 5/11/04 at about
$13.68 USD value. Might go for that, too.

BTW, I chose the "Expedited International Shipping" and it was like only a $1.00 CAD more (about $.79)
for 4-7 business days versus 8-16 business days. Interesting.
