Rare Hot Deal Post by me

Make this deal better guys!!!!! STARTS SUNDAY

Go to BM and try to have them PM Costco or over the phone. They have this drive for $179.99 and $159.99 after instant rebate at register. I have local Costco so it might work with the younger cashiers.

-Costco

Heres the deal

$189.99-110% PM (179.99)= $178.99-30 coupon-30 rebate= $118.99

If they accept Costco's $20 off

$189.99-110% PM (159.99)= $156.99-30 coupon-30 rebate= $96.99

Again YMMV. Im going to BM to do this. Better luck with the younger cashiers

Found this one over at BSD......Iomega 4x DVD+RW Burner (no rebates) from Tiger Direct for $140. Although it costs a little more, you don't have to worry about PMing or rebates:

Linky: Iomeega 4x DVD+RW Burner for $140

The best part is that there are no rebates! Iomeega isn't really worse than Cendyne. I still think I'd be alright so I'm going to give it a shot.

my local Staples will PM Costco, but my 2 local Costcos don't stock CenDyne burners... 🙁 damn! this was a hot deal...

I wouldnt go Tiger Direct!!! Cheack out thier ratings. To many problems
If you use Tiger Direct give them one-time credit card number ONLY. And prepare yourself for spam mail from them and anybody else they sell your information to. These guys are crooks, be ready for it.

there's always a "gotcha". costo is selling a 4x2.4x12 burner, whereas staples is selling a 4x2x12. now if you get the village idiot at the counter, you might be able to get away with it. otherwise, about the best one can get is $129 on this deal, but that ain't bad.

I just scored one... PM'd to costco at 159.99 + the $30.00 coupon.. Filling out the rebate so should be sub 100.00! Thanks for the info FFactory0x

Alright, I know I'm getting older but I absolutely cannot find out where it states that there is a MIR on this unit. I see the $20 instant rebate but nothing about a $30 MIR. Can somebody point in the right direction? Thanks.

these places cut out the middleman...staples does not.

Nothing in Staples price match policy precludes matching Costco. Bring a printout of their polcy, and stick to your guns, you should win this one. And both units appear to be identical.

I doubt it will help, though. Costco net price is $160 ($180 - $20 IR). Staples net price is also $160 ($190 - $30 MIR). In fact, it will be $130 if you're using the $30 coupon, so either way, no price match. Staples is very explicit about deducting rebates and coupons before arriving at the Staples price, for the purposes of price matching.

Best deal here is stright up Staples: $190 - $30 MIR - $30 coupon = $130 + tax on $160. Not bad, but not too hot. Unless you can find a Staples manager who doesn't have a clue. Of course, there are plenty of them, but usually only when their ignorance works in Staples' favor, not yours 🙂

Youre saying $130 for a DVD +RW isn't a hot deal? Show me another place where you can get it for $130 (and don't give me Tiger Direct - ripoff kings).

i did the deed on this deal. $129 for the 4x2x12 burner at staples. the price is nothing to sneez at. afterward i drove on over to my favorite french store "targe't" and picked up three 20pks of tdk 4xdvd+r media for $29 a pack. $1.50 for 4x media is a great deal. so...for just a bit more than $200 bucks i got a great burner and 60 potential movies.

I bought a CD burner made by Cendyne and when I burn music CD it hear cracking noise while with my other burner it doesn't do it. Does anyone else have this problem? I hear this cracking noise only the last half of the CD. The source that I burn from sound fine and when burn with other burners it sound fine too.

I have to disagree with the statement that Staples will deduct manufacturers rebates from a price match. Their price match policy will only include the value of a rebate if it is a Staples rebate; from their price match page "For example, if you buy an item from us for $100, and we offer a $20 rebate, the net price is $80". Also, I just got off the phone with Staples customer support (Miriam) who confirmed that Staples will not include a MIR in the price match.

Therefore, this deal looks good at around $100 after MIR.
