That bag would be way too oversized for canon s230. You might be better off getting the s100 powershot case for around $7-$8 at amazon instead.

Heh you modified the deal I posted on Fat Wallet - I posted that you can get a 10pk of CD-rs for $4.45 instead of the case.

Or you can be real cheap and order 7 of each type of screws that Dell has available.

I'd post the link to my f@twallet thread, but I'm too lazy to see if that's against the rules heh. So I won't.

Does the S230 have the same issues as the S200? The S200 takes for freakin ever to autofocus on a picture, particularly indoors, before the shot is taken. I've had that button pressed for a good 4-5 seconds before the picture gets taken and it's not only annoying, it makes the camera downright unusable.

I noticed that with the s330. Hopefuly, this doesn't happen in the s230. I did not read anything about that on steve's digi cam review. A month ago I got rid of my s110 for the s330. I just bought the s230, hopefully it has no problems.

And you had modified my post to your thread at the other board, which I had with Screws instead of cdrs.

How does one take advantage of the %10 off and $35 coupon? Is it credited automatically upon checkout? If not, anybody have a link?

maybe all the digital elphs are like that. my s110 is a pain too. i tried my friends s30 last week, and it was so much faster. barely a delay....almost like a regular camera. i'll ask my room mate about his s230 he just got regarding the issue.

can't decide on the canon s230/s30/s40. Only a $45 difference between the s30 and s40 for 1mP.

Thanks for the info. This is a deal killer, imho. It's unusable for any "moment" shots you're trying to capture..

Mine shipped today, so I guess I can find out pretty soon how it compares to earlier models.

Here's an excerpt from CNet S230 review regarding the shutter lag / Autofocus issue:

The S230 is speedy. We clocked shot-to-shot times as fast as 2 to 3 seconds, with a flash. And you'll hardly notice a shutter lag with this camera; press the shutter button, and you're pretty much there.

Autofocus performance, especially in low light, seems markedly improved over that of previous models, thanks in part to the DIGIC technology and a selectable nine-point focus mode. The camera snaps quickly into focus and identifies the areas of sharpest focus by displaying rectangles in the LCD preview.

I ordered this deal for $360 yesterday, but didn't get the simpletech memory but got some other brand cuz it was cheaper. The simpletech would have been $10 cheaper after rebate, but didn't wanna bother with rebate hassles.

Got the deal by phoning order in. Took manager approval, so it's a YMMV. But do a search for s230, you'll find a post here and at fatwlt where it describes how to do it and where many had success about a month ago with a different coupon. That's all I'll say cuz if you look at fatwlt thread the Dell representatives eventually posted there and were pissed, lol.

Also if you don't live in a state that is taxed by Dell small business, you can get a hot deal.
There is automatic 15% right now off peripherals. There is also a 15% stackable that you can buy from someone on the forums for around $5-10.
So in total you get two 15% coupons and free shipping as well.

well it's $45 shipped now at Amazon... I don't know where you can find it cheaper. It should come with a NB-1LH (newer version) as my recently purchased S200 came with one. The battery works pretty well, if you want to greatly extend the life of the battery just turn off the viewfinder when you don't need it. I haven't exactly counted how long the battery goes (w/and w/o flash) but I've done at least 40-50 shots on one charge.

I'd love to jump on this deal if someone would want to buy my S200 and 128MB CF card at a great price ;)
