Thanks for the link. I just bought a Fuji 2.1 MP camera today for $320 after tax. Ordered this one and took the other back.

Holy crap 4.2 MP camera for 305? Damn do you think i should sell my S110 and get this? Is this camera that much better than the S110? Cause the s110s are going for around 300 on ebay so it would be a free upgrade.

RossMAN, its not a repost, the Toshiba PDR-M71 is a 3.2mp camera, this is a whopping 4.2 megapixels :)

I'm getting in on this one too! I had purchased a PDR-M71 3.2mp camera for the same amount last week. I just ordered this one today and the 3.3mp is going back. I was quite happy with the PDR-M71 for the money, the M81 should be just as good, but with higher resolution. The only other consideration in this price range IMHO would be the Nikon Coolpix 995 3.3mp for about a hundred more (if you can get in on the "hot deal" with the pricematch).

Here is another review of it:

So the question is, how's Toshiba with rebates? Or the company that's handling it? Very tempting...:)

Price went down to $449.95 between ordering and checking out. Final price $399.95. I just bought the PDR-M71 in the last go around, and I've been very happy with it. With the rebate and the eventual Blue PM, this will be a steal. Prices on Pricegrabber are already down to just over $400.

If you want this deal, buy it now. Gateway is showing Limited Quantities which means they will most likely go out of stock soon. The rebate ends on 2/28/02.

Hey guys and gals,

I really need to say something about the way Toshiba handles warranty/non-warranty repairs. There customer service is not that great. When I had a digicam from them, the mode dial accidently popped off, which is apparently a problem with many of the Toshoba cams. Well, in order to make a long story short, I called Toshiba to repair the cam, only to find out that they do not repair the cams. In fact I they gave me some outside numbers in Cali to call. But that was not the problem. The big deal was that they asked me 115 DOLLARS to repair the mode dial. This is only a mode dial guys.... it should not cost that much!!! So the point is that if you broke something more important like the lcd, get ready to pay up big time. And definitely get a warrantly so you dont have to go thru the crap I had to...

This is a HOT deal. Now I just need to find out how to get rid of my M-71.

From the reviews, I sense the only difference between this and the M71 is 4.2MP vs 3.2MP ??

If thats the case it won't be worth for me to try and get rid of my m-71 and go for this one.
For those who does not have one, it is indeed an awesone camera for the price.

This seems like a great deal, but the only thing that concerns me is the lack of acknowledgement of the rebate on Toshiba's website. Here's a link to the existing, available rebates. Toshiba rebates.
I know the rebate expires on 2-28-02, so they might have pulled it, but they also have the photo kit rebate for the M71, and it also expires on 2-28-02. Any feelings about this???

I called the number on the rebate and was told it was valid and all i had to buy was just the camera. I also bought the epson printer and will send in for that rebate too since I only need a copy of the UPC code. :)

Nah, the M-71 is not selling that well on Ebay.
A brand new M-71 is selling for only around $320.
I'm guessing a used one would be a little under $300 ??

If the only difference is 3.2mp vs 4.2mp , its not worth it.
The extra megapixel will only shows when you print stuff out otherwise, you won't notice it.

Can anyone else clarify the difference between the 2 cameras ??

<< It says that the $100+camera pack rebate is not eligible with other promotions, >>

I'm assuming they mean other Toshiba promotions. I mean how'll they know since the Epson rebate only requires a copy of the UPC for the "qualifying camera."

The Epson rebate form doesn't list the qualifying digicam models just the companies. So my only question is if this specific digicam qualifies. Here's the breakdown for the Epson printer from Dell:

Sub-Total $200.00
Discounts -$39.99
Shipping1 $21.00
Shipping Discount1 -$21.00
Tax1 $0.00
-------------------------------------
Total Price1 $160.01

So tempted to press the order button. :)
