I upgraded from my P160 to this case a few weeks ago. It is really quiet! It is also REALLY heavy. The empty P180 weighs almost as much as my friend's complete rig (in a superlanboy).

Antec really did pay attention to quiet. They did skimp on a couple of nice features from the P160 though. No temp readout built in (I know you can add one). Also, no thumb screws for expansion card slots. You actually need a screwdriver for this case :(.

Be careful of the "video card vent". I bought a slow, quiet 80mm fan to put in mine and the fan thickness prevented the vent from fitting over the VGA card. I have a BFG 6800GTOC and it has a heat pipe that sticks up over the card by about 1/4". Just enough to block the vent. Luckily, it is easily left out of the case.

On the good side...If you buy this case you MUST buy the Scythe Ninja HS for your CPU. Here's a link to a SPCR article. SPCR REVIEW OF NINJA

I did not install a fan on the HS and the two 120mm case fans are close enough to keep my Venice 3500 at about 30°C.

Enjoy!

I like some aspects of the P180, but I don't like power supplies to be on the "wrong" side of the motherboard (similar to V1000, Temjin).

I have read that SPCR review of the Ninja and looks like match made in quiet heaven between the case and heatsink. I wonder if a duct can be made...

And better left out. Even if you throw a 15mm (slim) fan in there it won't help.

The VGA duct was a joke.

Just an FYI regarding Securemart

I had never heard of this company until this post. I figured if I used my Amex I would be protected against any issue so I ordered the P180 yesterday afternoon about 5:00 PM EST.

The box was delivered THIS MORNING to the Cincinnati area. No company (even the local Staples) has delivered this fast. I am very impressed.

WOW. I wonder how that's possible since it looks like they're in CA. Do you know where they shipped from? Did you get next day shipping?

I think gfdcali101 acquitted himself nicely in a subsequent post.

thanks...

I just finished transfering my comp over to the new case, I'm digging it. The bottom HD bracket is hard install if your data/power cables are not extremely long... I managed, but it was a pain in the ass (longer cables would have saved me alot of time/effort) It's wide open inside, which is nice, and it is quiet as a mother... maybe some :camera:'s when I get a chance...

I'm coming from a lian-li pc-55 (smaller that the 60) I liked the size of my old case, so this will take some getting used to. Front bezel arround the door seems cheap...

My rating:

Setup/Installation: 6.5/10
Quality/details: 9.5/10
Looks/design: 10/10
quiet pc: 10/10
airflow: 10/10 (no benchmarks yet :( )

Overall: 9.5/10

e-penis growth factor: +3.8"

I returned mine...I found it to be too much of a hassle.
Looks good, looks like a good design but installation should not have to be a pain as far as the PSU is concerned. My cables (OCZ Modstream) were thick and made it almost impossible to install after spending 45 minutes accomodating the PSU and dealing with the short cables...I had enough.

Went right back to the egg.

Just my thoughts on it...

Looks like it shipped from an Indiana warehouse. I chose the cheapest (2 to 3 day Fedex Ground) method.

I so want a new case...my current case (Antec Performance Plus) is almost maxxed out. It is a 2yr+ old case and is still going great..

now..i have to decide between my "needs" and my "Wants"....I think i will hold on for a little while longer...just cant justify myself spending ~$100 on a case yet but I still WANT it..lol

Doh why didn't I see this two days ago. It shows $100.25 for me now. With tax and shipping it's not as good a deal as from TechonWeb, but definitely awesome for those who got in at $90.

got the case today, and just got finished putting all my hardware in it. it is really a quality case, but it took about 2 hours to get everything in there (although i do have a lot of hardware). definitely glad i bought it so far, but we'll see how temperatures go and whatnot..

thanks OP!

I keep hoping this comes back down again. I was so close to getting this, and it just rubs me the wrong way to buy it *after* it goes up $10.

Well I ordered one of these just now. It came to $127 and change with shipping (but not sales tax for me). So I guess it didn't rub me the wrong way hard enough to stop me from buying. :-/

I put my PC Power & Cooling 510W power supply, my DFI LanParty SLI motherboard, my Athlon X2 3800+, and 2GB of Patriot (2x1GB) into this case last night. I didn't fire it up because I have not yet purchased drives or a video card.

The case is pretty darn heavy empty, and it's really darn heavy with the solidly constructed PCP&C 510W power supply. BTW, the Antec P-180 has the power supply mounted at the bottom, which is a little counter intuitive given that heat rises. But this case is outfitted with 120mm fans (3) that really makes the "heat rises" issue moot.

Routing the cables from the bottom of the case upward toward the motherboard through an opening in the lower chamber was a bit of work. You need to feed the cables from the power supply up through the hole BEFORE you put the power supply into the case. Just set the PSU next to the open case real close and start stuffing those wires up there. Once they're all started, put the PSU into it's position.

It appeared at first that the cables right as they come out of the power supply were going to be jammed into the 120mm fan that blows from the lower hard drive cage toward the power supply. I was skeptical that it was going to be okay. But once I got everything settled, then I saw that there was enough room between the cable mass taking a hard upward 90° turn and the face of the fan.

But I did have to pull each cable individually up through the opening to make sure there was NO slack or it would get into the face of the fan down there. Also, MAKE SURE you put the frame/sound dampening cage around the power supply BEFORE you put it in. Grrrrr. I had to take mine partway back out, put the frame/cage on it, and put it back in.

Another problem I had was with the AC'97 I/O riser that comes with the DFI LanParty SLI motherboard. I had to remove the 120mm fan on the back of the case to install that riser, and once again it did not look like the fan would go back in after the riser was installed on the motherboard. Well it fits, but it is bearing right on top of that riser thingamajig. That one is too close for comfort, but it does work.

Anyway, the whole thing is nice and solid and I hope to have my new system spinning, maybe this weekend.

Yeah, I just bought this case for 135, and wished I had waited to see this. The case IS extremely quiet in my opinion, however, I have not installed any fans in the front and rely on the top, rear, and PSU fans to do the work for me. Love the rubber strips for the HD as well as the storage compartment for extra screws on the other side of the removable 3.5" cage, plus the storage for the drive rails... kind of helps keep me as organized as possible...

All in all, it was worth it at 135, and is damn smokin' at 90+shipping!!!

This is the best deal I've seen on a P-180.

Why would anyone want to be a moderator here? Yikes! I'd be ashamed of that...
