Just search for it at gateway you'll find it.

Klipsch's 4.1 (400 watts) are so much better then this boston 4.1 (98 watt) system. They had 75 watt sats while this has what 16 watt. The sub is 100 watts in the promedia 4.1 and its a dual firing 6.5's compared to a single firing 8 inch 34 wat sub here. They are more expensive retial but klipsch is currently selling refurbs that have scratches on them for 149.99 plus like 10-ish shipping. I just bought some which will be in tommorow.

Can someone give me an opinion on how these BA speakers compare with the altec lansing 641 or the logitech 560's and which are the best in the 4.1 category... I hear that the logitech's are crap because of the constant and frequent "blowing" of the sub... I'm gravitating toward the 641's but if these BA speakers are better then let me hear it...

Um, dont confuse power with overall quality...You can get car audio amps that state thousands of watts, but hook your speakers/subs up to a nice amp with less power and they will sound a whole hell of a lot better. Klipsch's (which I own) are nice, but they arnt THAT amazing sounding...they get loud, thats for sure, but the overall sound isnt the greatest. I havent heard these particular BA speakers, but I have heard others that sounded great...granted they were HT speakers and cost a bit more, but you get my pont I hope =)

I understand that but they are of better quality (from what I heard from a friends system;2.1 version) then the 2.1 BA i used to own. Those broke down on me and the company would not replace them I had a very bad experience with them. The klipsch are one of the loudest and best systems I have heard. For sub 200 the refurbs I bought are probally the best thing you could buy. IMO

The BA's I bought were through gateway and they to my knowledge were the comparable 2.1 system of these 4.1 but I am not for sure because I have no looked into it. But the specs seems very similar and the look was identical.

k, just making sure =)
just out of curiosity, were the 2.1's the same series as these?

#1 there is no 2.1 version of this system there is not even a 2.1 version of the BA4800's

unless you have heard the Unity 5.1 System because no other system uses the same satellites

#2 louder != better

no boston does not make a 2.1 "Multimedia system" that rivals the quality of this system

that is like comparing the logitech z340/540's to the z560's

yeah I didnt think there was a 2.1...you might have heard a much cheaper line of speakers from them...
Who knows...I'm sure they sound good at least =)

ok, they are different then the ones I used. The pic of them looked similar to my memory of my old speakers from BA though. And I never claimed for sure they were the same. I just thought they were of the same seris. And yes loud is good.

Okay, I had something long typed up but I lost it so here is the short of it 🙂

Doesn't seem like anyone else here owns the system so I will provide my two cents.

The Logitech Z560 and the BA7800 use different wattage specifications. You cannot compare the 400W straight up with the 98W since they're talking about "Maximum Burst Power" there, and not sustained wattage).

As for the actual speakers themselves. I bought both the Z560 and the BA7800 and I can assure you that the BA7800 competes just fine volume-wise. I did not test them at their maximum volumes as I did not want to kill my ears or annoy my neighbors. Using the BA7800s at volume level of about 10 o'clock on the volume dial is more than enough.

Quality-wise, the BA7800s win hands down. Music sounds a lot better on the BA7800s than on the Z560s. If you want to host a party, well, the Z560s are fine as you won't really care about how the bass from the sub is as long as it is loud and shakes the room. But if you want strong clean and just as powerful bass, I would go with the BA7800s.

From what I have read (I have not owned any other of the more recent systems), the BA7800s are better than the Altec Lansing 641s. In fact, the only systems that are said to be better are the Klipsch 5.1 and the high end Videologic speakers (Sirocco Pro, Crossfire, etc). The Videologic speakers are in a class of their own though, and they should considering their price (Crossfire runs at about $900 I think). These are also rated at 100W but there has never been any dispute as to how much they kick the arses of the competition.

If you want something cheaper, try the older BA speakers. Their 2.1 solutions are pretty good too, better than Logitech's 2.1 speakers for sure. The BA4800 used to be one of the top systems as well, competing with the Klipsch Promedias when they first came out. Do not buy the BA7500 though. I have not tried those but I hear they are crap. All in all, Boston Acoustics has always been up there in the computer speaker market. If any of you remember, they used to be the best, back when Cambridge was top of the line as well. This is my 3rd system from Boston Acoustics and I am completely satisfied.

gateway's site sucks -- keeps timing out on me
i cant even get a good luck at the speakers
had to go to bostonacoustics.com to check it out
