HOT: BLUETOOTH GPS WITH SOFTWARE $156.00 Shipped

I have this and it is great. It logs data points that you can download later. I have it hidden in my car. If someone else drives my car, I can download the points later and see exactly where they have been and how fast they were driving.

You can connect either a laptop or a pda to it via bluetooth. I can connect my pocketpc to it, but I prefer the laptop because you can store all of the maps on it. With the pocketpc you have to upload the maps that you are going to use to it. Not good for a long trip. It works good locally when there is not a lot of map data. The Street Atlas Handheld works with Palm and PocketPC.

I have both StreetAtlas and TopoUSA. All of the Street Atlas maps are about 600 megs. All of th Topo maps are about 4 gigs. I have a 1 gig SD card in my pocketpc and was going to put all of the maps on it. Program would always crash. It has to convert the maps somehow when it puts them on the pda. I have only been sucessful doing small areas.

Ah, thanks for the info.

does the software give voice prompts, by any chance? if i were to use this with my laptop, i'd want it to act as a navigation system, as well.

Edit: the Topo software also got mediocre marks at amazon.com. what were your experiences with its various feature?

definately get the StreetAtlas to use as navigation. It does give voice prompts. The roads are updated far more often. I like the Topo software, but it does have it quirks. Mostly the roads aren't that accurate on it. Love the 3D terrain viewing. You can download satellite images from their website and view them in 3D while you are driving or hiking. I downloaded the area around my house and can see my house and driveway when I drive up on gps. They give you $50 of free downloads. $50=50 sq km.

Nice deal. I just payed $36 for Street Atlas USA 2005 on ebay. I would have went for this deal if I would have known, darnit.

I have ME, NH and MA on a 128 meg stick, works VERY well!!! I also stick the GPS by itself in the back of my bike, works great for track day to log your speeds distances etc.

I don't have this model, but I can vouch for Delorme. I bought one of their earthmate GPS systems and still use it from time to time.... Great stuff!

If you only want the receiver look here, for $99.00 it's a good buy and it does include a vehicle mount. I personally dislike Delorme software, but that's just my preference. MS Streets and Tips 2005 can be had for about $15.00 for OEM version, saw it at FW earlier today.
