HOT! Blockbuster is getting rid of late fees

pretty hot in a way... but after a week, u get charged the full price of the DVD/video game minus the rental fee... Good and Bad i guess... but i stopped going to Blockbuster about 6 years ago because of their high rental prices and lame late fees.

Two weeks then charged full minus rental fee. If returned before 30 days you are charged a restocking fee. It's hot for the extremely lazy.

And how is this a hot deal? This is news, not a hot deal. Mods, go ahead and lock this thread.

Says the all-star with 21 posts and lots to contribute.

Just FYI the "full" price on a blockbuster VHS tape used to be around $120. I don't know if they ever changed that, but I doubt it.

I hate Cockbuster's late policies. I don't know why they can't just adopt a library policy of charging someone X cents a day for being late rather than charging for an entire week rental for being 2 hours late.

Restocking fee is said to be less than $2. And you get store credit, not your money back. After 2 weeks, Blockbuster gets your money whether you return the movie or not.

Wow, there's still ppl that go to Blockbuster to rent movies??? There are way better choices unless you don't have anything else near your house or you really hate to use something like Netflix.

It's not so bad renting movies from blockbuster. You will never get the 2nd dvd for the special edition. Netflix only ships one disc.

I stopped going to Blockbuster years ago when they kept harassing me with late fee bills and threatening to add a negative to my credit history.

If you don't mind paying Ballbuster's outrageous rental prices.

That was back when not all movies were released for sale right when they came out to rent. I had a friend who owned a small video rental store. He said he paid anywere from $15 each to over $200 each.

Netflix rocks. Get movies delivered to your doorstep and i can keep movies as long as I want with no fees or charges.

2-day for "new releases"...... new releases...lets see....

The Matrix (1st one)
Lord of the Rings (1st one)
etc
etc

Block Buster calls any DVD a "new release" if it's likely to be rented..... otherwise it falls into the regular categorized isles which means it's pretty much unlikely to be rented.

My $.02

Get a clue people. The price charged after being late is the USED price less the rental fee (about $12 - rental fee). unless it is just out (less then 2 weeks) then it is about $17. You will get a full refund if returned within 30 days less the restocking fee - a whole $1.25.

Anything less than a year old is a new release but they are only two day rentals for a few weeks.

And, most importantly to you idiots who claim that you get movies in on time and still get chsrged late fees -BS- they check in movies 4-5 times a day.

Thats good info about the charges, altho Ballbuster has charged me twice for late fees when the movie was returned on time. They couldn't even find the movies.

Anyhow, they suck, and so do you, for registering on a forum just to be an @ss, particularly for such a crappy company.
