Sorry to butt in but I've got a question:
I want to set up a LAN at home as well as share a cable modem connection. Will this router take care of everything I need or do I need a network hub as well?

Yup, this will take care of you needs. You won't need a switch/hub unless you plan to have more than 4 (or the number of available ports).

The one I have does port forwarding, not sure about the F5D5231 but I would assume it does since it's the better version. Come to think of it, has anyone seen a recent router that doesn't have port forwarding?

computerboy2k1: where did you buy the router? Refurbed at CompUSA?

Just got my dsl router,
I installed the software, but when it goes to test for internet connection if fails.

I have win2000 and using verizon dsl.

has any 1 got this thing to work?
What am I doing wrong?

Oh well, there was a similar deal a while back from Staples in which I got this same router free:)

I got an e-mail yastaday saying it was OOS and would not be restocked, so all I got was my binder clips. :(

A note on the belkin refurbs: I have 5 of the routers total, every one's worked fine, and without problems. Sorry to hear other people got stiffed, but the only time i had to deal with their customer service was when i didnt get a 6/4 pin cable with my firewire card, which they sent out to me immediately (took my word for it)...wasnt on hold long either.

I'm happy so far...

mine come and it doesnt look like the one in the staples.com picture.
anyone else get this??
its looks better so maybe its a new version??
