HOT! Audigy 2 ZS Platinum $109.99

Is there any chance that someone in the US would order and ship to me here in the UK if i paid all the costs? The ZS platinum costs the equivalent of $314.00 here! It would be like a 60% saving for me,

thanks

Germain

Oh yeah and the two posts to my name may make this look like im a troll or whatever but really im not, i post on the futuremark forums as Gamman007, i have quite a few posts there to my name! Also im on ebay as Gamman007...

Thanks again

Germain

Yes, that's why you apply the $10 off coupon...

Edit: looking at the picture on the Buy website, does this unit come with black face panel only?

Sigh, maybe someday I will learn some self-restraint, but until then keep the great deals coming. Thanks.

I was just at CC where they're selling this for $199. I would be all over this deal, but I already have an Audigy2 Platinum, and can't see it's worth upgrading to the ZS. Tell me if I'm wrong.

Me too, I have the Audigy2 Platinum and Logitech Z-680 speakers which is only 5.1. Is there any reason at all to upgrade to ZS?

I too, also have an Audigy 2 Platinum, and when I saw this, I thought that this isn't worth the minor upgrade.

The only two major differences that I notice between the Platinum and the ZS is the extra 2dB in SNR (108dB vs 106dB) and one extra set of speaker support (7.1 vs 6.1).

The only thing I don't understand is the EAX 4.0 claimed with the ZS and the no numbered EAX claimed in Platinum. I don't know if this is software related or hardware related. If it's software, then the Platinum has EAX 4.0 drivers available at Creative's website. If it's hardware, then I don't know what are the main differences.

The two major differences, which to me isn't a very huge difference isn't worth the upgrade. I shelled out about $120 for my Platinum, and I can basically get ZS for a little bit less, but how would I recoup the lost with the Platinum? So that's how my decision was made - not to upgrade.

Extra speaker worth the upgrade? Ha! A lot of audio support is surrounded by 5.1 Dolby Digital (movies, games). What about the extra 2 db improvement of eliminated noise? Probably makes a difference, but I guess not significant to really upgrade. If they suddenly went from say, 106 dB to like 120 dB or something (making up numbers here), then that'll sure be worth an upgrade if you're an audiophile. 2 dB isn't enough to be appreciate the upgrade worthiness.

Of course, if anything is said wrong above, feel free to correct me. 🙂

It almost seems like Creative has run out of things to do with sound cards. All they have been doing lately is just adding more channels. I don't think they can do this indefinitely. I mean, if they come up with 8.1, will that even make a difference? Their Audigy2 already has 24 bit resolution, 96KHz sampling rate (which is more than twice oversampled for the audible range of 20KHz). Maybe they could increase SNR further or improve their EAX interface. But overall, I think it's going to be harder and harder for them to justify to their existing users that they need to upgrade.

A $70 rebate on the Platinum Pro is now available @ Creative's online shopping site. Brings the Pro to $179.95 + S&H ($12 from them to me). Tax collected for AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IA, IL, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OK, OH, PA, TN, TX, UT, VA, and WA. Rebate good to Feb. 17th.
