20% off ATI, eVga and Visiontek (at least that is what I can tell from the online ad).

Anyway,

ATI 9800 Pro for $239.99
9800 Pro AIW for $303.99
9600 Pro AIW $199.99 - 20MIR
9600XT $159.99

eVga 5600 Ultra 128MB $159.99 - 30 MIR
eVGA 5700 Ultra $175.99

Those are the best deals I see...they have 20% off all BYOS components. That takes them to some reasonable prices now.

They also have the Belkin 1000VA UPS for $64.49 after $15MIR. Cheapest I saw online was $95 + shipping.

Any comments on Belkin vs. APC for UPS? I think I'll have to pick one up after work.

Check out mwave too. I just checked, and they have a 9700P for $199 and a 9600XT for like $159. You may find really good deals at both places, so look at both.

If you can *somehow* swing it, avoid anything 9600, even XT, and get a 9800 Non-Pro or PRO. Do NOT get a 9800 SE!
The 9800 PRO for < $250 is a really hot deal!
The 9600XT is not a bad card, don't get me wrong, but 4 pipelines will most certainly lessen your Half-Life 2 and DOOM 3 experience. And in current games, a 9800 lets you play with 4x AA and 8x AF almost everywhere, and that's pretty damn sweet.

They have Radeon 7000 AGP 32MB Video Card for $30.
As I was getting problem with Old Voodo AGP Card, I was looking for a budget Card to use in my old PC with W2000.

Finally,
I bought it from Staples by PriceMatching MicroCenter.

My son bought a "Zoo Tycoon .." PC game for $20. That made Total Amt closed to $50.
By adding some other item, used a OM Coupon ($10/$50).

MC got some good deals. If I go there, I may spend again. I did it on Dec 26.

How? The only RADEON 7000 AGP card that I see at MicroCenter is not a built by ATI card and I believe that's all Staples sells. Was this in-store or online?

YES both stores are local.
But it should work for Online too as I found this online.

Regarding Price Matching at Staples, Sorry, I did not explain clearly.
I live in Atlanta, GA.

This is what happened. I was trying to install a 80GB HDD on my PIII/W2000 PC.
System did not detect the HDD. I tried to flash the Award Bios with downloaded Firmware.

Display blanked out. Somehow I managed to get back the old bios, but system froze frequently.

So I looked for a Video Card by browsing on to another home pc and found the Radeon 7000 AGP 32MB on Microcenter (Online).
Found the same on Staples site (but it was PCI). I printed and went to Staples close by. Found a Radeon 7000 AGP Card matching the description.
Local Microcenter is 15 miles farther. I requested the Staples Manager for a Price match. He found the item description same and Price matched.

Hope this would help somebody.

Got my 9600 AIW.....if you want to use the MIR on it, the MIR expires today. There were at least 4-5 9800 AIWs at the store in OP, KS and they still had some 9800 Pros as of yesterday afternoon.

When's the end date of this?

1/11, according to the ad. MC usually extends the ad run - but I wouldn't expect them to get many more 9800 Pros in - ATI's stopped making them nearly as much to go over to the XTs.

Cheese - what are you trying to do? If it is just word processing and surfing, either one would do. To step up even from there, you'd be looking at the 9200 or the crippled 5600XT.

Visiontek??? Looks like an ATI card to me... not to be a newbie or anything but is there some correlation here that I missed?

Any reccomendations for a Video Card with video in/out so I can use my mac as a TiVo?

Visiontek went bankrupt (nividia) and switched to ati several years ago.

Yeah.. They used to be here in Gurnee, IL and then they went under and resurfaced in Lake Bluff, IL about 15 minutes away. I think that part of Visiontek became BFG Technologies and they are based out of the northwest suburbs as far as I know.

I was test driving a new Mini Cooper S in Lake Bluff and accidentially went by Visiontek's new place. It's in a huge commercial park off of Rt. 41.

FYI.. FWIW for those peeps in the Chicagoland area.

Damn double post. I guess I should renew my subscription service so I don't double post all the time.

Last year. Or, now that we're in '04, the year before last, I should say. Summer of '02.

Hard|OCP article on the closing of Visiontek.

The re-opening of the company and focus on ATi products started late last year.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled deal hunt.

VisionTek has a good warranty service. Don't worry about that aspect of things if you buy from them. I got a person on the horn after a few seconds after the voicemail tree navigation. If you can find their number I guess.

Lifetime warranty I believe.
