I just bought one in the store, since It's a holiday and of course no one is at nexthardwareshop.com to answer the phone to check what the next day shipping changes are, so when they can't verify the shipping changes they add $5.00 for shipping. so I got it for $30.00. I also bought the free after rebate Conext Battery Backup and used a $10 off $50 Staples email coupon.

Well, I just got back from my Staples with my new Artec DVD drive. I took in a printout of nexgenhardware.com with the $25 sticker price. The women working the register seemed pretty bored, so I just walked up with my drive and gave it to her with my printout and said I wanted a pricematch. She punched it in, and neglected to include the overnight shipping. I, of course, did not mention anything and walked out with the drive for $2.20!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!!

Got back from staples a little bit ago. I tried to use nexthardware or whatever the $25 one was. REJECTED. "I need to see the quantity in stock and the shipping charges" So then I went back a little later and the manager that rejected me was on the phone. I watched from a distance as he said something the guy at the computer hardware dept and then hurrily toward the back. Well I caught fatty and asked him to approve this one. He finally said yes. I was going to do this but said what the hell I bought two and used a coupon. 2 for $20 isn't bad!

ZERO odds, There's nothing on the rebate form that says anything about price, look at the rebate form yourself, it's on their web site listed under the name of Artronix.

My point is that the rebate is base on the you buying a Artec 16x DVD before the end of 7-13, not on how much you are paying for it, but if you are this afraid of not getting the rebate don't do the deal.

I pmed it for 24 bucks...

Tax was 1.16

total came to 20.57

Staples does not ship (free) next day. At least not for me. I order from them all the time and the only thing I ever get next day are the big air boxes that hold the little box of paper clips that I used to hit my coupon threshold.

Thanks to all for the deal. Manager would not price match 110% cause he could not verify instock over the phone. I quess techbaazar puts you to a voicemail or something. I didn;t care because he never asked about the shipping so out the door for $25.38. -$20.00 rebate = a hell of a deal!!!!

Hmmm... every time I've tried a pricematch at staples for one of these deals, it's been either denied or they try to tack on outrageous shipping fees. Guess you just have to get lucky and talk to a rep who doesn't know anything or doesn't care. Same goes for many of the deals at OfficeMax through this forum... I try to price match and get slapped down. :disgust:

lite-on 16x for $32.81 after 10% with free next bzness day shipping ($19 value). a lil higher than few days ago when price was a lil lower but what the heck.

The hell with the rebates. Grab the Lite-On 163D @ Dell for ~$33 shipped next day and be done with it. Got 2 in early this morning. Great drives and the price just can't be beat!

Excellent Deal. I almost had the drive for $2.20 but the manager caught the fact that I didn't have the shipping quote on there (fine with me, I don't want the guy getting in trouble). So i came home, printed out the googlegear price and he gave it to me for $31 or something like that. For $11, this dvd-rom is well worth it!

So, use the googlegear price quote and it will definitely work but the $25 price quote is worth a shot.

I got a replacement for the dead one and it worked fine under XP. However, I didn't quite understand when I tried playing a dvd with the media player, I got an error saying that there wasn't a compatible decoder installed. So I installed the PowerDVD 3.0 and then the movie played fine with the XP media player. Then I tried to play the same movie with PowerDVD and I got an error saying due to the fact I my video card video out was enabled the dvd's copy protection wouldn't allow it to be played.

I went into my local Staples with low expectations and my printouts. After the manager reviewed it, she charged me the $5 shipping charge and got it for $26.40 out the door. Unlike some who abuse such deals, I got one drive. The manager asked if I got the last one because she was tired of ringing it up.
BTW: As of yesterday, the Staples in Dearborn MI has 2 drives left.
