Amazing player!! The hacked firmware, in addition to making the player region-free and disabling Macrovision, also removes the digital CGMS/A DVD copy protection signal. I have a Panasonic E30 DVD recorder which won't record most commercial DVDs because of CGMS/A. But the Apex works GREAT!!!

Go to CompUSA or KMart and buy one of these 1500s!!!

That is great to hear. I'll get my 2 tomorrow. I hope I get the A, B, C, or D model. I already have one and it takes only a minute to apply the hack.

I received 2 "A models" and applied the hack right after opening the boxes, I still had the burned-cd rom from a previous Apex 1500 I had.

Some how both the DVD player I got didn't want to eject, but I find a fix for it. I just open the lid and push the drive in a bit. I guess it must have gotten stuck during shipping.
