Squalish,
my take on this is that cheap rounded cables don't perform as well as a flat cable. I returned some SVC cables as I perceived a drop in performance after replacing my flat cables. DVD playback began to stutter with no other changes than replacing the flat cable with a rounded one. I picked up one of these Antec cables and did not have any of the problems I had with the ones from SVC, but the seem to perform as well as the flat ribbon cables I replaced. So in essence, the Antec does improve on transfer rate of lesser rounded cables, and comes close to, or equals, the performance of a flat ribbon cable...
I don't have any data to back this up with, just my opinion from what I saw with my own machine....
