Wow...beats the hell out of the Westinghouse deal 😛 Granted, I've heard numerous accounts of delayed rebates.

I would still rather have the Westinghouse, - but I dawdled and missed it. $900 shipped w/ no rebate wait and the bottom speakers would fit better in my space. The Westy also seems to have a lot more reviews - the vast majority very positive - and good feedback for all uses, including gaming and as a PC monitor.

Still, both are great deals. So to is the highly regarded Syntax 26" LT26HVE for under $500 mentioned in another thread.

I have this tv and I said it before and I say it again. IT FVCKING ROCKS!

Watch my shows and surf the net with split screen or put it at 1280x1024 in 4:3 mode for a 25" lcd monitor ro go all out and play DOOM at 1280x720 in it full wide screen goodness.

Havent had a single problem in the last 3 months, picture looks great, 50,000 bulb hours rated, it will be used for many many years to come.

OH and HD looks oh soooooooooo sweet on this as well. Has DVI and VGA inputs along with a plethera of other composite and analog inputs too. Got sat, 2 computers, Xbox, Dreamcast, Playstation, and a 3DO all hooked up to this bad boy 😀😀😀😀

Does it really weigh 90 lbs? If it does, that's 3x the weight of the 26" version.

I want to mount whatever I get on the wall. Anybody have any experience with wall mounts for these tv's?

I bought the 26" version at Circuit City yesterday, but I'm considering returning it and going with this one instead.

This is my first HD LCD, so there are a few things that sort of bug me about it. First of all, when I played a widescreen dvd, I was surprised to get the black bars on the top and bottom like with my 4:3 aspect ratio Sony CRT. Why is this? I thought that having a widescreen set would fill out the screen in widescreen. It turns a 26" screen into virtually nothing.

Also, it's a little difficult to get used to the full mode with regular 4:3 broadcasts. I tried 4:3 mode and the images on screen look normal, but it's a shame to give up all that screen space. Then, when you see a commercial shot in widescreen mode, I have black bars on all sides. It essentially turns my 26" set into a 13" P&S set.

Is there any way around this? Am I missing a setting?

I know that this is a deals thread, but maybe my questions will help another first time LCD buyer that would be surprised by the same things after buying one of these displays. I'm lucky that I bought the 26" from Circuit City to find this out because I'm not sure if I want to go with an LCD at this point. It's easier to return it than locally than shipping it back to Amazon if I decide that this type of tv isn't for me.

Even if you have a Widescreen TV, you'll get the black bars if the program you're watching is filmed in 2:35:1 Ratio, which is what most films are being produced in. Sucks, but that's the way it goes.

Sounds good but where am I going to return it when dead pixels to show up? Oh I know I'm going to have to ship it back for a replacement! I really think that's the major down side to purchasing something this big online...I think I'll pass. If it they guaranteed that they'll cover shipping for it if something goes bad I'd be in on this but not at this point...Good luck to those buying!
