For those of you in a Best Buy market with leftover 75GB HD's, they are subbing them for the 60GB in the ad when they run out (most are). The ad HD is $99 w/ a $40 rebate, totalling $59. Since this 75GB HD doesn't have a rebate, they are subbing it for $59 cash in the store. No rebates, bigger drive. Hot deal.

Would be hotter if the drive in the box is an 80G drive.....which I think several received (maybe all?)!

So you mean to tell us that up in Wisconsin not every 75GB drive was sold in the first 3 mintues of openning on Black Friday.

I think this basically should be a Brag & Moan post.

You can't always go by what the person on the phone says. I've never gotten a straight answer by calling a store. I've always had to drive over to the store to find out exactly what I needed to. But, this deal really does sound like it could vary by store, location, etc. - and may not apply to all stores.

A friend of mine just got this at the Louisville, KY St. Matthews store. May be worth a look elsewhere. The guy he was working with told him they would have to give him a rain check. But when they went to the counter another guy said that they were subbing the 75G drives.

I also just got a 75(80)gig WD at the local Best Buy as a replacement for the $59.99 60gig WD drive
that's on sale. It was the only 75gig drive left and I was actually surprised to find one. So, this does
really work.

Lepscher...thanks a bunch for posting this.

I tried this tonight in Orange CT. They tried to give me one of the 75 giggers but they could not get the computer to adjust the price. After like 10 minutes they tell me that it ended yesterday. By the way there were at least 10 of these drives available.

I got an 80gig also....I think it's just their new naming scheme, since everyone always asks "why does it says 80 gigs, but only 74 are available" or whatever...just a less tricky name :)

I think they lied to you. They are giving the 75gig drives as a replacement for the 60gig WD drives that was on sale this week for $59.99. This deal does
not end till Saturday (12/07). You might want to try a different BB. Btw, they'll only give you the 75gig drive if the 60gig ones are sold out.

i guess we could purchase all the 60 gigs. come back later and purchase the 75 gigs since the 60 gigs are all gone. then return even later to return all the 60 gigs. :)

i wont be doing that. i just felt like being creative.

No go down here in Madison. Tried at the west side BB, the best they would do was to allow me the intense pleasure of doing a "pre-buy" : I pay in full now and pick it up when they get the drive back in. Ummm gosh I think I'll pass. When I suggested that they could sub a 75gb as other BBs had I got several " yeah right pal" expressions.
YMMV indeed!! :disgust:
Lepscher any chance of a scan of your receipt so that I could take it in?
PM me if you can.
Thanks for the post in any case, good effort to share your good fortune! :)

I feel your pain. Getting deals in Madison WI, keeps getting harder and harder all the time. The west side Best Buy and CompUSA seem to be the more difficult places to try these.
